Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Pours a dark ruby red with an off white head. The aroma was a light coffee with a slight skunky sent. The lack of flavor it did have was a water down skunky malt taste. The body was thin with a nasty bitter aftertaste.Overall I’m glad I had wheat thin to get what little nasty taste out of my mouth.

Another draft on a beautiful day in Mainz. Nothing special but still tasty and refreshing. Certainly enjoyable though.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2011 Kevés világosbarna hab. Konkrét kávé ízzel, ami száraz enyhén keserű. Szénsavas vékonyka testtel keserű lecsengéssel. Nem nagy szám de az üveg szép...

Pours a translucent black with a frothy, thick head that dissipates slowly. Aroma: weird mixture of malt, syrup and soap. Faint hints of nuts. Palate: Watery. No finish, no body. Just water. Taste: burnt nuts. yuck.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2011 Tap @ Hard Rock Cafe, Berlin. Pours a near black body with a dense off-white one-fingersized head. Nose is strong burned caramel along with sweet toffee and dark malts. Really nice aroma. Lively carbonated and medium-bodied. I get some faint roasted flavors along with sweet toffee and good hints of licorice. Slightly sticky palate and a medium bitter ending. Quite good!

Revisited @ Cyprus 2011

0.33l bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a small sidesticking tanned head. Aroma is light sweet with notes of dark malts, licorice, cold coffee, some chocolate, rum & coke? and something reminding me of vanilla icecream. Quite light bodied, has a watery to oily texture and average carbonation. Tastes just as it smells. Light sweet, some cold coffee, more dark malts and it ends with some nice licorice. This is a really mild, smooth and quite good little beer!

Nice aroma of caramel. The flavor is subdued with light caramel and a slight bit of banana, grapes, and dark cherries. The texure is a bit oily and sticky in the mouth.

0,5 l. bottle from the supermarket. Dark brown-red colour with a off-white and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, and so does the flavour, where I also find notes of caramel, licorice and a nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. Easy drinkable, has a good mouthfeel despite the low ABV. A good surprice hence the low price.

Clear red brown with an off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt and caramel. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Soft with a dry finish. Rather watery for a schwarzbier. 130710
