Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Deep brown with a tan, thin, lasting, frothy head. Smells of dark malt like a schwartzbier, nut, caramel and raisin. Medium frothy oily body. Tastes of sweet caramel malt but a bit subdued under the dark malt, raisin and soft bitter roast finish. Herbal hops. Nice and easy to drink.

Can, 0.50l, shared with Yuri. Clear almost black color with medium frothy off-white head and fair lacing. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, chocolate and herbal hops. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel, follows by roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, while finish is average bitter. Medium body, slick texture and soft carbonation in palate. Low ABV, but still pretty decent flavoured...

pours a nice head and body that is on the slightly darker side for a black lager. kind of cloudy and not totally filtered. aroma is of grain, very slight chocolate and maybe even something sweet like bubble gum, but very faint. taste is quite watery (not surprising given the alcohol content), which is disappointing. this ends very dry with only a small amount of maltiness, almost no hops and almost no roast. just a little bit of sweetness and black bread flavor. i’d drink again, but only really for refreshment on a hot day.

330ml bottle. Pours clear, dark amber color with decent, tan head, that leaves no lacing. Week aroma of roasted malt, coffee and a little bit of caramel sweetness. Light and a bit flat taste. A bit sweet and a hint of smoke. Short and a bit dry aftertaste.

Barreras (849) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - MAR 14, 2014
Pours a cola color with a light malt aroma. Taste is mildly sweet with caramel notes. A slight bitter hop tinge left on the palate after the swallow. This beer tastes like a dark heinekin.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2014 Poured from can. Clear dark brown with beige head. Aroma of roasted malts. Thin body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. Balance towards bitterness. Bitterness of roasted malts at beginning, followed by hop bitterness in finish. Some ash in aftertaste. Nice session beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had this a number of times, all bottled. The aroma is dominated by roasted malts, some slight coffee and dark chocolate. Decent, i prefer Primator though.
