Bottle at home in London with Lyoli on NYE. Pours well hazy orange with a moderate, white foam head. Mellow wheat nose, hints of banana and bubblegum, light citrus and dough. Light to medium sweet flavor, smooth wheaty malts, semi-ripe bananas, some yeasty esters, lemon. Light bodied with lively, mouth-filling carbonation. Mild dryness in the finish, some simple bready sugars, sweet wheat, a bit more yeast, ripe banana. A simple but very acceptable hefe.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 olliejobbins (329) - Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 29, 2012
500ml bottle. Looks pretty unappealing just like all weiss beers. However, this tasted pretty crummy compared to others i’ve had in Bavaria from the tap. Poor relation of its German cousins.

500ml brown bottle from local East European shop. A light, sweet wheat beer. Quite watery with laid back flavours but plenty of sweetness. Some bubblegum, and a bit of spice on the swallow.

Bottle from Euro Shop, Wolverhampton. Pours a luminous yellow, with bright white top. Smells drily wheaty, with some chalk. Not sure if this is a Hefe or a Belgian Wit actually. But I do like it. Thick and smooth in the gob, with a clean finish. Flavour is prim, with lemon, Angel Delight wheat and some erm other stuff. Really like this actually - it’s excellent. Good flavour, good mouthfeel and good balance. Refreshing and tasty. (My bottle was 5.1%)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rauchbier (3399) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - AUG 4, 2012
Bottle, from an ethnic foodstore in Scunthorpe. Hazy gold, big fluffy lasting white head and moderate condition. Pleasant aromas of banana and sweet caramel in the nose with some low phenolic notes and a hint of spicy pepper, gentle sweetness in the mouth with hints of banana and wheaty malt and a slight tangyness, finish is short with some residual sweetness and a low chalky yeast bitterness. A fairly muted commercial style Hefeweizen.
