50cl bottle, part of mixed Hallertauer hop sampler. - Pours an interesting murky brown-purple with tan head. Nose is not too impressive, typically bready and sweet. Taste and medium-full mouthfeel remind me of a Schneider Aventinus light, shy roasted notes coupled with heavy fresh bread and spice aromas. Filling, but drinkable. Campy front label with cavorting little angels, clashing with the back label where "Das einzigartige Bier- und Kunsterlebnis" is advertised using a Hundertwasser tower.

This is from memory, when I used to take Alte Liebe at a hotel restaurant am Zeedeich, in Cuxhaven. Quite mistakenly, I’d proudly tell my visitors that this was a local Cuxi concoction, named after the Alte Liebe quay, a touristy landmark. I’m sure that this was the reason the hotel had "imported" it, to start with. Anyway, I can recall a nice brown/purplish cloudy colour, with a very generous lacy head. The aroma and flavours were banana cake, chocolates, roast malts and spices - perhaps cloves. I can recall the pleasure of visitors and the pride on this lovely beer. I wish I could taste it again.

Huge white head. Cloudy dark brown colour. Strong wheat aroma. Fruity taste and a typically spicy dark wheat beer palate. Good average.

Nice stable head, but unnatural - almost cola-beer like - color. Aroma is quite low and the taste too malty... Nothing special...

Some chocolate in the aroma, pours dark brown, but was noticing a lack of thick head. Roast grains and more chocolatre in the flavor, then some metallic tinge in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel also seems a little watery for what should be a heavier beer. Right in the middle of the pack...

Bottle shared with McTapps. Full of yeast from nose to taste. A great but not very heavy beer with some peaches in the nose. Good one.
