3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Bierkrug (1919) - Idar-Oberstein (In Iraq), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - APR 10, 2013
500 ml bottle from Regensburg, Germany. Pours a hazy yellow color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet malt, some sweetness, and citrus. Taste is more subdued than the aroma bringing in more robust malt and flowers. Palate is mooth but not for the style and it ends a dry for a Helles. Still a good solid beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 georgekessel (68) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2007
Not a true Helles Weissbier which is what I had hoped for, but rather a golden hoppy (very hoppy) crisp flavor. I did not detect fruit but there was a distinct flowerly herbal flavor. Low Head - beware of fast pours as that flattens the bier.
