Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of tropical fruit juice (mango-banana-pineapple-etc.), light note of pepper. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. What we have here is an Ur-Weisse, but a rather plain one. The tropical fruit notes are neat, but there’s not a lot more to the nose. In the mouth it’s too sweet and watery to be very enjoyable to drink. As with the regular Weiss, I enjoy smelling it but it’s not particularly fun to sip on.

0,5l Flasche.

My Bottom Line:
Rich wheat, bananas and candied oranges move into cloves and citrus in this complex and friendly Weissbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the cloudy yellowish orange.
-Mouthfeel is cushiony, somewhere between rich and easy drinking.
-This is not as carbonated as the Weihenstephaners of this world.
-An acidic touch in the finish works wonders with the inherent fruitiness of the yeast profile.

At Dicker Mann, Regensburg, and on the boat to Weltenburger Kloster.
