Glouglouburp (1876), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 15, 2008 Entering my rating here. Beer drank at the brewpub may 2008 under the name “American IPA”. I assume it is the same beer as this “American Extreme IPA”.
In short: A tasty IPA. Strong caramelized malt backbone, lots of fruity hops.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: clear copper body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose of fruity hops and caramel. This is a well malted beer with rich caramel and earthy notes. Well balanced by a heavy dosage of fruity hops. Lots of citrus flavour with some grapefruits. This is a standard but superior American style IPA. Funny that this is about the only Kuhnhenn beer that shouldn’t have the word Extreme in its name. Or maybe we should interpret Kuhnhenn’s naming and assume it means the opposite… Kuhnhenn is a woman? tomaroth (31), Troy, Michigan, USA Jan 20, 2008 Very nice hand pull. Great copper/red color. Flavor, citrus, spices, spicy hops, and some caramel malt on the finish. Not a lot of bitterness but great aroma and flavor from the hops. Was a great change of pace inbetween all the other monster beers that were pouring. pantanap (677), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 24, 2007 Updated: Jan 22, 2008tap (cask pulled) @ solstice party.... a mixed bag of reviews on this one but i very much liked this one so onto the rating.....poured a cloudy amber brown with a long-lasting and fluffy off-white head....strong aroma of grapefruit and beloved floral hops which weren’t overly assertive but definitely got your attention....a great hop flavor full of grapefruit tickled the tongue. very little bitterness as well if that’s your thing. just very smooth and overflowed with tropical fruit goodness.
