3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (3114) - Durham, USA - JAN 22, 2009
12oz bottle from Hoppymeal - thanks, Derek!!! Monster pour and monster nose. The head is nearly three fingers of creamy froth, sitting on top of a cloudy orange body that looks very inviting. Extremely pungent nose, floral, citric, and a smidge bitter. Full mouthfeel, very enjoyable, but there’s a slight tartness in the finish that ever so slightly mars this fine beer. A nice DIPA from a brewery I usually associate with the dark side.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JulienHuxley (1154) - Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 20, 2011
On tap at the brewpub.
Aroma: Faint hoppiness, quite malty.
Appearance:Clear gold pour, white foam.
Flavors: Slight bitterness, rich malt. Not too good.
Palate: Full body and lively carbonation
Overall: Doesn’T seem like an American IPA to me ...

Aroma of floral hops. Flavor is the same. Yellow appearance, tinge of red. Floral hops on the finish as well. Pretty standard IPA.

Draft. Pours golden orange with a thin white head. The aroma has fruity citric hops and light piney notes. The flavor is fruity hoppy, almost candy-like, with light piney notes and sweet malts. Nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Petkus331 (77) - Redford, Michigan, USA - SEP 1, 2010
This beer had a very floral nose and very light floral flavor. The color was light for an IPA. I find it hard to believe this is a Double IPA, it is very light even for a regular IPA. Overall it was enjoyable, but I’d rather reach for a Sierra Nevada IPA.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nickls (1346) - SE DC, Washington DC, USA - JUN 28, 2010
(Old BA rate - tap)
Poured with a thinner white head; clearer coppery orange hue. Lightly dank and fairly aggressive hoppiness that leans a bit to the West Coast; light malt sweetness in the aroma. Citrusy and piney at the same time almost; slight kiss of malt sweetness for balance but this clearly leans toward a hop-forward Midwest to West Coast DIPA. Lighter to medium; vibrant carbonation. Very drinkable for the style, and a lower abv than others. Awesome stuff.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2010
Tap at New Beer. Pours slightly cloudy orange with a sturdy white head. Emits plenty of pine and citrus hop aromas. Pretty well balanced flavor, with some caramel sweetness up front followed by grapefruit, resiney bitterness. Medium in body with strong carbonation and a semi-sticky finish. Very good.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 italarican (885) - Astoria, New York, USA - MAY 17, 2010
Amber pour, headless. Pine hops are predominant in the nose, with a slight mix of caramel. Flavor is bitter hops with malt and caramel. Not that interesting, with too much one-dimensionality in the hops.

Growler via trade with goryshkewych back in Jan and shared at Hellbilly’s tasting in Feb. - Yeah, finally entering some old notes. Pours a clear copper color with a small off white head. Faint spotty lacing. Aroma is hops, esters, and hints of smoke and vanilla. Very nice. Flavor is hops, esters, and light toasted malt. Medium body. An interesting and good tasting beer. Thanks George.
