COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American example of an English style of beer made for the Russian Royals. This ale deep black in color, finally released after being aged for 16 months. Made using large amounts of malt and roasted barley yields the most robust beer we make. Thick coffee like flavor and aroma. This beer is well hopped and finishes bitter. This is a real treat

Bottle ... I threw my back out and wanted to treat myself. This works. Nose throws a mix of coffee/roast and berry/sweet...apparent bitterness. It takes some work to formulate a head. Flavor put me back. Unbelievable! A dark chocolate bitterness hides behind an upfront (and unique) cherry/blackberry, plum...this is not your normal impy stout. Very, very rich, thick, syrup like palate...decadent. The kind of beer that you cannot put down ... you want to keep tasting, then think, then immediately taste again. Such a complex, cool beer. And unfortunately, probably another beer I’ll never see again. A NON CLOYING VERSION OF DARK LORD. Thanks Derek!!!!

Bottle, '12 vintage. The pour is black and think like oil, think dark head. The aroma is big on welcoming malts and chocolate, very nice. The taste is pretty complex and changes quickly in the drink. The malts come though and mix well with some mild bitter hops. A perfect AIS. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Kuhnhenn. The pour is thick black with a wonderful thick medium khaki head and great clinging lace. The aroma is great. Good strong roasted malt and lighter dark fruits. The bitterness is great as well. There is a faint sweetness from the fruit and a light coffee hint. The flavor isn't quite as good. The roast is great, the dark fruits offer a great complexity, but it's not quite as good as the nose would lead on. It's really roasty with a light sweetness on the finish. The mouth feel is a bit light. Well carbonated but thin. The aftertaste is bitter and roasty before fading to mild sweetness and just a lovely stout taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is sour, roasted malt, some booze. Appearance is deep black, brown head. Taste is phenomenal, deep roasted malt, slight booze, dark fruit. Mouthfeel is ridiculously thick, the head has a great consistency and it is very oily. Overall, this is a spectacular brew.

Bottle at the "couldn’t be arsed to do anything else on a Wednesday tasting @ ABC Beers", courtesy of Kermis. Poured a deep mahogany with a thick frothy dark tan head. The aroma is big roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and light alcohol. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a rich malt, earthy dark chocolate, coffee, liqourice, molasses, alcohol palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from mikem409, thanks Mike! Pours a foreboding black with a brown head leaving some nice streaky lacing. Aroma has strong rich vanilla and molasses with chocolate and caramel. Down through the glass, some roastiness kicks in. Loving that ... Taste is of sweet vanilla, bakers chocolate, caramelly malts, some bourbon, some roast and sweet molasses at the end. Sweeter than the nose. Full bodied and rich. Finishes bourbon-y long and sweetly bitter. This one was very well done - straight forward bourbon-y chocolate malty. Will need to come up with more Kuhnhenn stuff! 16.8

This poured a jet black with a minimal tan head. Aroma was of.dark.chocolate, licorice, smoke, and soy. Flavor was big and sweet, but not to the point of being over the top. Big abundance.of dark.fruit, smoke and molasses. Pretty amazing this really held up for 8 years.

Bottle from polo, thanks man! Thick oily black pour, with a thin layer of mocha head. Aroma of brown sugar, dark fruits, roasted malts and anise. Taste, medium mouthfeel, bitter coffee, roasted malts, sharp finish. Overall, a good imperial stout for sure better than average but doesn’t blow me away.
