Bottle at Papsø tasting. Ghee, this is black-black. With no head. Prunes, licorice, roasted malts in the nose. Flavor is more impressive. Overripe fruity, darkly hidden secrets, sweet sticky licorice syrup, coffe roast. A bit too boozy. And maybe a bit too old? Full body, engine oily, flat carbonation.

From notes:
Pours pitch black and completely opaque without even the slightest trace of lighter color when and a thin dark mocha head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Minimal spots of lacing.
Sweet boozy aroma with lots of toasted malt, dark fruit, oak and vanilla. Hints of bittersweet dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, roasted coffee bean, burnt toast and marshmallow as well as vinous fruit, especially grape, raisin and plum.
Chewy medium body with a nice balance of sweet booze, roasted malt, silky chocolate and vinous dark fruit. A bit hot up front with lots of boozy alcohol flavor but this is quickly countered by a sweet and slightly roasty malt presence. Hints of silky bittersweet dark chocolate, toffee, coffee bean, hazelnut and caramel. There’s also a slight earthy oak presence that gives off notes of vanilla and marshmallow, slightly mellowing things out a bit. More sweetness toward the end of the palate with hints of vinous raisin, fig, grape and plum. Although the alcohol is evident throughout, the ABV is decently masked with subtle warmth in the finish.
Overall this beer is pretty tasty but has a bit too strong of an alcohol flavor. Nevertheless, this beer is still tasty and pretty quaffable.
