4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BOLTZ7555 (2378) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - SEP 3, 2011
Bottle generously shared by dcschiller @ Dak’s Cantillon Tasting. I’m sincerely thinking about moving to Warren, Michigan for the sole reason of having easy access to their meads/pyments! This one pours a nice raspberry/plum colored pour with some Bing cherry highlights. No head. Took a couple of massively deep inhales of this...filling my nostrils with bright blackberry, vanilla, honey, and red wine. Confident that I let out some moans of delight. I’m sure that I creeped a few people out but that’s their issue. Wish I could bath in this...no, then I wouldn’t want to drink it. I would smell amazing! Anyhow, flavor is of ripe freshly-picked blackberry off of the vine. Sweet but not overly cloying or syrupy. Still a sipper but just because you want to savor it...have it last as long as possible. Press it between your teeth and slosh it around in your mouth. Yum!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (6058) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. Purple-amber color with no real head to speak of, and some sticks to the sides of the glass. Aroma of berries and honey. Full-bodied with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, and has a vinous and berry character. Sweet malt and honey underneath. The finish leaves a lingering blackberry aftertaste. Good all around.

Glass at Kuhnhenn. Pours clear reddish purple with no carbonation and minimal legs. Aroms of blackberry juice, honey and red wine. Juicy blackberry flavor (almost like Minute Maid berry punch) with honey sweetness and a winey port finish.

Pours a nice deep purpleish maroon. Aromas of fresh berry juice, chocolate, and honey. The flavor is unique. A mead version or KRE. Lots of raspberry and mulberry. Mildly earthy yet sweet. Mild cocoa notes which compliment the port element. There is a hint of minerals that detract just a bit. Overall really really nice though. Another great mead from Kuhnhenn.
