2012 Vintage. Aroma is super fruity with a ton of blueberry, cherry and raspberry jam notes. Medium chocolate and light roast notes. Alcohol is well hidden behind the sugar notes. Pours brown with a bit of a reddish purple and green hue and lighter brown highlights on the edges. No head or lacing and sheets of alcohol. Flavor has a lot of sweetness with a nice blueberry jam note. Background chocolate and light roast notes. Alcohol is well hidden but there is a bit of it in the finish. Faint bitterness. Mouthfeel is full bodied with low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a really nice, fruity eisbock that hides the alcohol well behind its cloying sweetness. The blueberry character is very prevalent and hides creates the

Tap at Michigan Winter Beer Festival - 22-Feb-2014. Deep brown with minimal head. Huge blueberry flavor. Really intense, but delicious. Not nearly as boozy seeming as the Raspberry version, but you definitely know this is a strong one.

Draft at MBG Winter Festival - pours a murky blue/purple. Huge fresh blueberry aromas. Palate is a bit sticky. Flavor is blueberry syrup. Mild alcohol. Not bad, wouldnít seek out again.

38cl, Vintage 2012, new exclusive American brew, with blueberries, thx alot to Ronald for bringing this over!, very complex fruit brew, alcoholic/fruity and slightly sweet/sour, yet not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, very good Winter brew, WOW!

Sample. Blue purplish pour. Huge blueberry burn on the nose. Big body burn, yogurt, blueberry jam, hint of carbonation. Love it.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2014 [Tap @ release party Feb. 2013] not sure if this is intentional or not (I think not) but my pour looked like purple-blue yogurt. Completely opaque & milky looking, thick as hell, & coating all sides of the glass when swirled. Aroma was a fantastic display of blueberry; preserves, jam, & sweetness with a touch of alcohol warmth in the background. The taste, despite the look, was very delicate & approachable. Blueberry jam with notes a very, very mild chocolate character & some boozy warmth that closes things out. Yeah, sure, itís a "big" beer & a slow sipper... But itís a 15.5% ABV eisbock, so what do you expect? Sweetness is controlled well & the blueberry taste is executed very nicely. Awesome beer.

[Tap / Winter Solstice 2013] Essentially the same as I remember it, full of jammy blueberry goodness, honey, very mild chocolate, & some tame yet robust booze. Only difference was the appearance - not the same yogurt-y mess I had the first time. Dee mahogany with a ruby tint & mild translucency throughout. Still not worth the price, maybe, but a great beer nonetheless.

In short: A cloying and way-too-boozy aggressive blueberry ale. Disappointing.
How: A bottle or two shared pre-HFFoFA 2013 tasting. Bottle was only a few months old.
The look: Burgundy body with almost not head.
In long: A scarily intense nose mixing alcohol heat with sweet blueberry jam, I could smell my glass from two feet away. In mouth things donít get better, it doesnít even have a ďreal beerĒ mouthfeel, more like a hard-liquor with some bubbles. Taste is more of the same, extremely boozy, burning the mouth, extremely sweet, blueberry jam, some dark grapes. I donít think the recipe is the problem, I think the problem is the batch, we also had the new Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock and it just wasnít the rich classic KRE that Iíve had in the past. Maybe it needs to be aged for a few years. At this young age I thought it was pretty bad. Iíve said countless times that boozy sweet beers are overrated on ratebeer, so there is no point beating on a dead horse here when I can use that time to go out to find live squirrels I can beat on.

Growler. Intense blueberry smell. Thickouthfeel. Like tart blueberry syrup. You could pour it on pancakes.

Draft at í13 Winter Solstice. The pour is a muted bluish purple. The aroma is straight blueberries, very nice. The taste is top notch. A little boozy, but heavy blueberry. A hint of bitterness in the very end. Lived up to the hype.

Bottle (thanks to hannont for sharing!)... Poured deep, dark, brownish with a thin, little-to-no head. This was amazing stuff. First off, I love blueberries and most things with blueberries in it. This was dense, and sweet, with prominent blueberry notes. Blueberry characters that reminded me of the fruit on the bottom stuff you find in yogurts, blueberry cereal bars, blueberry pastries. This was so great. Kind of polarizing within the group I enjoyed it with, but I was really into it.
