Growler: thanks, Jeff! Murky, pours like shit-colored swamp water... bottom of the barrel? Watery mud with black/blue specs floating around... What? Aroma smells like a bowl of Fruity Pebbles, blueberry perfume, faint maple, & a finish of something spicy & herbal... almost like tobacco but not as harsh. Earthy? A little sweet cocoa in the tail end, too. Taste is heavier blueberry syrup but still carries a fruity collage, again, much like Fruity Pebbles. Dense, juicy, syrupy. Brown sugar, light cocoa, & more of that ashy, herbal tobacco leaf character. Some crush black pepper notes as well. Wow, what a unique beer. I don’t know if Blueberry Pancake is the best name, but it was a pretty damn tasty brew.

On tap @ Tørst. Deep dark purple blue on the glass this and it has a nice medium sized lacing and sidesticking kinda pinkish top. Lovely sweet blueberry and raspberry concentrate aroma. It basically smells like nosing juice from the childhood - added tons and tons of sugar. Almost artificial in the aroma. Weird flavor. It has lots of blueberries, but also a salty almost ammonia like thing. Blue cheese, mustard seeds and artificial raspberry juice. It’s light oily on the mouthfeel and the carbonation level is quite high. It smelled better than it tasted, but it’s definitely a interesting one. 12.06.2013

The aroma is blueberries, malts, cereal grains. The appearance is deep purple, small off-white head. The flavor is blueerries, not overly sweet, earthy, griany sort of flavor. The finish is blueberries, some tannins. Medium in body. Ok. Sounded cooler than it really was.

A dark pinkish blue with a thin purple head. In aroma,, nice blueberry juice witg light malt overtone. In mouth, a sweet blueberry juice with malt but there are some hops here that just dont fit, astringent. The body is light and dry. So-so.

Tap at Barcade: Hazy deep purple pour. Huge blueberry aroma. Sweet and one dimensional. Tannin heavy body with a huge blueberry skin flavor, with both sweetness and bitterness. Has a husky note as well. Long tannins coat the palate. Notes of papery oxidation and muted inky fig. Too many tannins; borderline astringent.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The aroma is stunningly strong with a sweet blueberry syrup smell. No tartness or funk like most fruit beers. In the palate the sweetness and effervescence are dominant on the open but the maple cleanup in the end is wonderful. Super cool.

Smell was ridiculous, fresh pancake batter and blueberry. Taste fell flat for me. Some blueberry there but did not live up to the nose

Growler served in a Jester King chalice. Thanks to nasty31 for sharing.
A: Pours a semi hazy ruby color with a whitish head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring to leaves some splotches of lace.
S: Straight up blueberry pancakes. Cooked blueberries with a sweet batter smell. Cooked pancakes with a sweet syrup smell also.
T: Tastes the exact same as the smell. Sauteed blueberries with a cooked pancake sweetness. A syrupy sweetness with a sugary fruitiness as well. Raw pancake batter as well.
M: The problem lies here as this growler was pretty much flat. It detracted from the drinkability and I needed some carbonation to cut some of sweetness.
O: Despite the flatness of the beer I still enjoyed this. It was really intriguing and I’d like to try some of the other Kuhnhenn Breakfast of Champions beers.
