3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2013
Growler served in a Jester King chalice. Thanks to nasty31 for sharing.
A: Pours a semi hazy ruby color with a whitish head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring to leaves some splotches of lace.
S: Straight up blueberry pancakes. Cooked blueberries with a sweet batter smell. Cooked pancakes with a sweet syrup smell also.
T: Tastes the exact same as the smell. Sauteed blueberries with a cooked pancake sweetness. A syrupy sweetness with a sugary fruitiness as well. Raw pancake batter as well.
M: The problem lies here as this growler was pretty much flat. It detracted from the drinkability and I needed some carbonation to cut some of sweetness.
O: Despite the flatness of the beer I still enjoyed this. It was really intriguing and I’d like to try some of the other Kuhnhenn Breakfast of Champions beers.
Serving type: growler
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 thome50 (575) - Boringville aka Irvine, California, USA - APR 4, 2013
Growler. Looks to have seeped just a bit but there was still a fair amount of carbonation. Pours a deep purple to brown with very thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is uber sweet candy blueberry, slight maple syrup and malt. Taste is upfront blueberry soda followed by syrup and caramel sweetness. The beer ends up being too sweet and not carbed enough to really enjoy. I’m sure some of this had to do with the carb level but the taste just wasn’t there and I got very little bready pancake.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 PhillyCraft (1975) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Growler split with Joe and Alan, pours hazy red orange with thin head and not much lacing. Aromas of heavy bluberry, sweet malts, and light pancake. Flavor has sweet bluberries, gingerbread, belgian spice, and lots of malt. Medium to fuller body. Active carbonation. Lacks some balance and needs more pancake flavor. Still a very interesting brew from Kuhnhenn.

This one poured a bright blueish purple color with a minimal pink hued head. Aroma was just straight blueberries, light funky cheeseyness blueberries have, and some buttery buckwheat notes too. Flavor is just almost completely spot on, lots of blueberry notes, lightly wild, followed by pancake butter and grainieness. Not sure how they really could have done this one any better.

Draft on St Patty’s. Pours dark amber-purple with a small head that lingers a bit. Aroma and taste is blueberry pancakes and I really enjoyed this beer. This was the best of the breakfast beers by far. Nice medium body, smooth finish. Yum.

On tap on St. Patty’s Day 2009. Clear amber with minimal head. Aroma of blueberries, and I detect some raspberry scent, similar to Raspberry Eisbock. Aroma is also very malty. Taste of berries and malt, not much hops. Crisp and light mouthfeel. OK, but doesn’t blow me away.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 walleye (1042) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUN 1, 2007
about time I entered this, I had it on St. Patties day. from the tap poured a amber with off white head. aroma did get hints of blueberry and some malt some sweetness with a bit of sourness peeking through . flavor, I was expecting a little more in the flavor department. I did get did some of the blueberry and malt, with a little citrus I guess this wasn’t to bad for a breakfast beer. Earlier Rating: 4/23/2005 Total Score: 4.3 from my favorite brewery, from the bottle.poured reddish color with a off white head. aroma, those nice sweet blueberries pancakes with maple syrup on them, and more blueberries on top of the pancakes. flavor, just like sitting down to breakfast for blueberry pancakes, hints of brown sugar. this is a little to sweet. but still a very good beer, going to pick up more of this stuff. will be good for a after dinner drink instead of dessert

Blueberry aroma is strong with hefty undertones of pastry dough. Cloudy, murky, tan-brown with a light ring of white head and lots of suspended fruit. Blueberry flavour is strong with lightly tart, acetic sourness. Medium body with strong, prickly carbonation. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005.
