[Bottle] shared by Tyler. Thanks! Pours clear with barely a hint of gold color and great legs. Aroma is concentrated almond extract, vanilla, banana extract, and I don’t really get any bourbon. The flavor is not as concentrated as the aroma. Taste of maple syrup, almond, a hint of banana, and that’s about it. Alcohol on the finish is warming but you don’t really taste it because it’s so sweet.

Holy shit! The aroma on this is sexy as hell! Bananas, almond crème, marzipan, some lighter cinnamon, and… well… fucking French toast! The alcohol is barely noticeable. Smells absolutely artificial, but it’s so goddamn aromatic. Pours thick, viscous and oily. Looks like a fat, buttery Cali Chardonnay in the glass. Flavor does not quite live up to the awesomeness of the aroma. Not nearly as syrupy sweet as the aroma suggests. There are flavors of almonds, bananas, a good dose of drying wood tannin, French toast batter. Fairly well attenuated all things considered. The alcohol is fairly prevalent, but not too overpowering. Fairly full bodied, syrupy and viscous but never becomes cloying. Fun, fun stuff. Thanks Jonathan!

Pours pale bright golden with no head. Huge nose and flavor of ammeretto, vanilla, banana. Smooth palate and finish. Legs flow down the glass like a 15% Chardonnay.

Nip bottle, courtesy of a friend. Thanks!! Pours a deep, golden color; nice long legs; headless. This is hugely aromatic and generous in the glass: notes of almonds, amaretto, and a light dose of cinnamon; rich nuttiness, vanilla, and tons of oxidative qualities here; I can’t tell whether some of these notes are well-handled oxidation or additions, but they’re hugely developed; part of one of the most unique and engaging aromas I’ve enjoyed in some time; honestly, this mead was worth it just for the aroma (and I’d be damn curious to know how they did this...). Hugely full mouthfeel, coating the palate; still; some warmth coming through, most definitely but nothing abrasive; the bourbon barrel comes through much more strongly in the mouth, paired with a hefty amount of alcohol that’s well-integrated, certainly, but still quite prominent and more than I’d prefer (it distracts a touch from some of the more subtle notes); beyond that, though, the alcohol subsides after the first few sips, and the same almond-y and amaretto-like notes play out beautifully here: lots of vanilla and nuttiness, certainly honey, and a light accompaniment of cinnamon; lightly spicy, hugely generous throughout, and (thankfully and somewhat surprisingly) never burdeningly sweet or cloying. Beautifully done, if just a touch overbearing in the mouth, for me (and I have a feeling that some folks sensitive to oxidation will have some negative reactions here). The finish is reasonably sweet, showing amaretto, almonds, and light spice.

Thanks to Dean for sharing. Fucking amazing. Arouma is artful. Cinnamon, maple syrup, super aroumatic. Each little sniff is like an exploration of a complex sugarscape...a perfect palate as well. Smooth and glasslike. savory fruits, honey nectar, sweet open flavors, continues with honey, and cinnamon. savory maple and honey notes. Finishes with a touch of warm alcohol. Best mead I’ve ever had, by a long shot.

Huge thanks to daknole!! Bottle pours gold. Aroma is sweet with banana bread, honey, caramel, and roasted pecans. This is one of THE most unique things I have ever smelled. Flavor doesn’t quite live up to the smell but they definately named this one appropriately. Im glad I had the opportunity to taste this.

Wow. Bulldog04 is the man. Yellow pour. Aroma is laden with bruleed bananas, honey, caramel, and honey. Flavor is sweet with some banana, walnuts, caramel, maple, baklava. One of the most uniqe beverages I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.

Bottle…RBSG 2010… This mead rocks!… Clear golden mead with fantastic, centipede-like legs. I cannot put into words how good this smells, but it’s one of the best smelling things ever. I would like to have a Yankee Candle that smells like this. Well, I guess I’ll give it a shot: I’m picking up a medley of Amaretto, deep fried banana/cinnamon bread, vanilla, pralines and all other things rich, decadent and sweet. Full-bodied and oily with no carbonation. The alcohol is nearly transparent - doesn’t taste like it’s over 7% ABV. The flavor is nearly as pleasurable as the aroma – buttery fried toast, vanilla and a wealth of hearty, dark, tropical blossoms honey. The finish is simply a continuation and then slow fade of the plush, luxuriant flavor. World class mead!
