Bottle. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, toasted malt, bourbon alcohol and vanilla wood aroma. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark fruit bourbon vanilla sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex standout beer.

2010 bottle. Red copper with a small off-white head. Big aroma of malt, caramel, dried fruit, vineous alcohol and vanilla. Sweet malty flavour, notable (but integrated) bourbon, some caramel and fruit, warming alcohol, almost a bit too boozy.

Bottle 2011 vintage poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of prune, toffee, caramel, tobacco, light bourbon and light oak. Palate was full bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, fruitiness, tobacco, light bourbon and light oak with a smooth lingering fruity toffee finish.

A dark brownish barley wine with no head. In aroma, brown sugar mixed with aniseed, treacle, and nice warming alcohol. In mouth, a porto beer with licorice, honey, maple, and warming alcohol. A rich and smooth barley wine. Tasted at Mondiale 2007.

2010 bottle from Jrallen, thanks! Dark brown color. Grapes, grassy hops, porto and bourbon in the aroma. Sugary sweet, alcoholic flavor with lots of bourbon and oak. Well hopped. Citrus notes. Good complexity, enough to compensate the sweetness and even the massive amounts of alcohol.

big sweet dark caramel sweetness with bourbon soaked dark fruits, alcohol is present but not over powering, big sweet sticky candied dark caramel character, vanilla brings out even more sweetness, sweetness is a bit more likeable this time around

2010 Bottle thanks to Jason! Pours dark brown. Small off white lacing. Nose/taste of almonds, toffee, plum, dark fruits, oak and figs. Moderate barrel presence. Sticky and sweet with some moderate well balanced warming alcohol in finish. Medium body.

Bottle shared by Ryan. Pours clear tawny with little to no head. Aroma is light sherry and brown sugar, dates and figs, spicy alcohol, cookie and caramel malt. Flavor is malt dominant with sweet dates and figs, spicy alcohol and a sweet finish. Some oak and light smoke notes cone in late. Full body, high warmth and light carbonation.
