2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2012 Bottle, thanks to Ken at THE Barley Wine Tasting, August 2012. It pours murky deep brown, with no head. The nose is initially strongly cheesy, brie, stinky feet and Wotsits, as well as vanilla, toasted coconut, toffee and meatiness. The taste is thankfully a bit better....toffee, caramel, wood, dry leather, light saltiness, toast, bourbon, waxy cheese rind and alcohol warmth. Full body, low carbonation and syrupy mouth-feel. Pretty cheesy and alcoholic. A disappointment.

Bottle provided by hoppymeal. Thank you! Clear brown color. Barely any head. Vanilla, dates, figs, honey, agave, brown sugar, light bourbon and woody notes. Flavor is sweet with dates, figs, bourbon, syrup, alcohol, wood, and a really nice hop finish. Really a wonderful beer. I am guessing this one will get better over the next year.

Taster, on tap, 2013 version, 16 % abv, at the third session, Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Rosewood coloured body. Film-type layer at the surface. Vapour of bourbon joined by bread-like malts and vanilla oak. Flavours of bread, prunes, caramel, and integrated alcohol. Sweet malty ending. Very smooth vinous impression. Great sipper qualities (03.05.2014).
