Thanks Dave! Pours a muddy brown, no head. Nose is big booze, bourbon, dark fruits, musky malts. Flavor is rich sweet fruit, alcohol, dusty, earthy, dirt, dry wood.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Poured into a snifter. 2010 on the label. I had this on-tap a little while ago and it blew my mind, but I didnít review it since I have pretty well buzzed with a wrecked palate. Hereís my chance to spread the good word.
3.0 A: Pours a cloudy dark brown, nearly black color. A fairly aggressive pour gave a maximum head of about 1/4 a finger, which quickly receded. Iím sure the ABV didnít help with the head formation, but Iíve seen other Kuhnhenn brews form very nice heads despite super high ABVs.
5.0 S: Simply amazing. This is the perfect beer for a bourbon treatment and the bourbon treatment is done perfectly. The bourbon is what hits you first, so I guess Iíll talk about that first. Intense, but tranquil bourbon - leather, peppery, raisin, oak and vanilla. Thereís also a moderate to not quite heavy booziness that complements the other aromas. The beer underneath is similarly wonderful. Dark fruits in the order of prune, tobacco, raisin, and fig. Sweet caramel and toffee. Perfect amount of sweetness.
5.0 T: Again, absolutely wonderful. Rich caramel and toffee. Sweet prune, plum, raisin, fig, date, tobacco, and raisin. Intense, yet well integrated flavors much like GI BCS. The bourbon again is a perfect complement to the base brew. Plenty of leathery bourbon that has a spicy quality to it with perhaps just a touch of peat. Moderate oakiness with a more than moderate amount of vanilla. Not a hint of tannins. The booziness is definitely detectable, but it doesnít taste like 13.5%. However, it certainly feels like 13.5% as in warms on the finish. Sweet caramel aftertaste.
4.5 M: Thick, creamy, and slightly chewy body. My only issue with this is that the carbonation is just a tad lower than Iíd prefer. Incredibly smooth given the ABV.
5.0 D: This is one helluva beer. Thereís no getting around that. This takes a very good beer and supplements it with bourbon barrel flavors, which makes it a truly world class brew. The base beer is still strong enough to shine while the barrel aging adds everything you would want and nothing you wouldnít.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
12 oz bottle, 2010. Murky brown with tan wisps and a ring of bubbles. First sniff and iím thinking peanut butter cups but so much more. Dark chocolate, toasted almond, maple, oak and bourbon provide a mouth watering invitation. Silky medium body with a dull sparkle. Slightly sticky with obvious heat becoming airy, dry and warming. Taste is bourbon, cola, chocolate, rum raisin and blackberry. As incredibly tasty as it is now, i can see this getting better over the next few years.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by Tooch4321...thanks Adam! - Pours hazy apple cider with a thin off-white head. A bit sharp on the nose, but more warm than hot. Sweet caramel, toffee, sweet malt. Lots of vanilla in the taste, with smooth heat, caramel, and oaky bourbon and toffee. Smooth, big-bodied and wonderful. This hasnít been my style of beer lately, but this was pretty damn good.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2011 My goodness this is great stuff. Received a 4 pack in a trade. Pour us very murky brown with a very thin tan head that only hangs around the rim. Nose is huge on bourbon but very distinct vanilla, wood and toffee notes. Taste is absolutely fabulous with a great bourbon kick but not nearly as hot as others I have had that that spent less than 6 months in the bottle. Flavors are similar to the non BA version. The only ding I would give is it feels a little heavy on the palate. I realize that is common for the BAs but I just wanted to throw it out there. It is certainly worth every bit of the $28/4 pack and will likely be even better in about 1-2 years.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Counter pressure filled: Pours a muddy brown color with a nice tanish brown head. The nose is big with bourbon and a clean sweet vanilla and chewy oak and sherry note background. Very balanced, seems a bit like angelís share with the balance of big earthy malty notes, oak and bourbon. Fantastic. Thanks Eric!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Big thanks to Derek for this bottle. Poured into a Duvel tulip with a hazy brown body and a small beige head. Nice nose of caramel, coconut, toffee and dark fruits. Starts with a bit of woodiness and jumps right to a caramel sweetness. Nice flavors of malt and raisins. Nice body. The finish has a vanilla note and a spicy, whisky dryness. Overall, smooth and sweet with little carbonation. This is an outstanding beer. Wonderfully balanced and deliciosos!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Shades of crimson, garnet, chestnut, mahogany and copper...depending on how the light impacts it with a tightly packed peanut colored head. Aroma is distracting, in an insanely good way! Donít know which way is up, canít remember my name, not sure if Iím awake or sleeping. Brown sugar, vanilla, sweet bourbon, oak, plum, raisin, molasses, and maple all find their way into the glass. A little alcohol heat but it does nothing but warm the belly. Extremely complex and a bit mind-blowing. You are a lucky bastage if you live near this brewery...know that!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 10, 2012 First rating of this very strong brew. It doesnít mix very well with Kentucky Fried Chicken, according to one imbiber I talked with, who ended up with his supper somewhere around his shoes. It tasted good, tho - sweet and hoppy, with a maple syrup flavor to it. Strong hoppy finish. I think the ABV was around 13%, but I could be wrong. On tap at RnH Kuhnhenn event.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle. Pours a brown color with no head at all. The aroma is fantastic. on of oak, vanilla, bourbon, toffee, sweet malts, and a hint of dark fruits all melded together flawlessly. The flavor stays true to the nose and adds an increased alcohol presence but nothing overpowering. Medium body. This is a fantastic beer! I really need to track down some more of this.
