This beer was great, it seemed to pour with almost no head, and had a very nice golden raisin color to it. Aromas were all raisins, wood, bourbon and molasses. The taste was full of sweet malts, soft oak flavors and a finish of mellow bourbon. Given the alcohol content I can say it was very hidden and easy to drink. Thanking OmegaX for this share.

Bottle shared at cfobes tasting. Not sure who brought this one but thanks. Bourbon and oak with a good dose of coffee aramel and vanilla. Pretty darn awesome.

Bottle @ home received via trade with FlandersNed. Pours dark brown with a small, frothy light tan head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is caramel, cookie, and toast malt with dates and figs, light alcohol, candied fruits and bourbon. Flavor is malt dominant with oak and bourbon, vanilla, toffee, figs and dates, light alcohol, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

It pours mahogany with ruby highlights; the head is almost non-existent, it is tan. The aroma has notes of: toffee, molasses, candied-figs, candied-dates, leather, and vanilla. The taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter; there are notes of: all the aroma notes, liquorice, cough medicine (medicinal note), and alcohol. The palate is full bodied, no carbonation, very sticky, and a long sweet finish. Overall, can feel a bit overwhelming, definitely a desert beer.

2011 12oz bottle shared at local tasting, pours a murky brown with a thin light brown head, the aroma is really sweet with a good amount of oak and bourbon notes coming through, the flavor has a sweet front end with a finish of caramel and a little bit of dark chocolate, the 13% is completely hidden, nice thick mouthfeel too, nice.

Dark brown coloured body with some nice violet coloured highlights and no head at all to speak of. Aroma of oak, vanilla, whiskey, scotch and a bit of earth - but the differences of the normal beer are massive. Very full-bodied; Viscous feel with a ton of alcohol and whiskey flavours with too much depth, and almost a scotch-like drink, not many beer-like flavours at all. Aftertaste is complex, but focused solely around whiskey, oak, bourbon and alcohol - this has the warmth of scotch and seemingly as much alcohol! Overall, a solid beer - but too much whiskey/scotch aging - this tastes like a spirit and not like a beer. Nice if that’s what you like, but if you do, you should probably be avoiding beer. I preferred the non-barrel aged. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 28-April-2011 for US$7.99 sampled at home in Washington, in conjunction with the normal version of the 4th D old ale, on 18-May-2013 celebrating a Detroit victory over Chicago in Game #2 of the 2013 NHL Playoffs. Beer #9 of my 4000rating extravaganza (of 9 total). 2010 Bottle

Draught @ CBC 2013. Pours clear dark amber with a diminishing white small head. Aroma is coconut, cherry, caramel, raisin, spicy, wort, dark malt, toffee, vanilla and wood. Taste is heavy+ sweet and medium bitter. Body is near full, texture is creamy/sticky and carbonation is soft. Finishes sweet with caramel and warming alcohol. Not near balanced - too sweet and alcoholic.

Pours a murky dark brown with no head and no lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak. Taste is full on caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, little dried fruits. Full body and low carb. A sipper. Well done
