A dark brown ale with almost no head. In aroma, plum, molasses, wood extract, soy sauce, woody and fragrant. In mouth, a viscous maple insanity, with licorice, warming alcohol, dark mashed fruits, extreme but good, but also difficult. Bottle at Mondial 2011, June 9, 2011.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark brown beer with no head retention; strong aroma of prune and cane sugar; very sweet; moderate carbonaton; full-bodied and gently sticky; residual sweetness and a long aftertaste of prunes with strong warming alcohol notes - out of balance and deeply overrated imho

Bottle... Muddy dark brown ale with a small, khaki head. Smells like prune juice and bourbon with an afterthought of wood. Boozy, sweet flavor with lots of dark fruit; mainly dried plum followed by tangy sour mash. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Finishes sweet with plenty of alcohol warmth. Nice!

12oz bottle (mine says 13.5%). Poured a dark and muddy brown color with a very small sized tan head. Aromas of lots of wood, oak, caramel, vanilla, marshmallows, dark fruits, and bourbon. Tastes of dark fruits, brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla, and caramel. Sweet but not cloying. Some alcohol burn in the finish, but expected for 13+%.

Deep brown/black pour. Rich chewy malt aroma. An intense oak and bourbon component over a meaty sort of umami backbone. Intense and rich. A lot of vanilla and oak. Caramel and cooked toffee along with some figgy sweetness. Lovely brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
