Bottle. Pours gold. Big honey and okay vanilla aroma. Taste is sweet boozy bourbon with nice mellow vanilla honey finish

Was hoping for something different but am fairly new to meads. Very clear, yellow tint on pour. Little carbonation. Reminded me of drinking watered down Bourbon, which I’m not a huge fan of. Decent, but would pass up another bottle.

Bottle from 2012 Winter Solstice. Pours an ultra clear, bright golden yellow color with no head. Aroma is an even mix of honey and bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, not as sweet as most meads I’ve had. Honey and bourbon are evenly balanced here. Sort of tastes like a rum liqueur in a way. Lightly boozy finish, almost no alcohol warming. This is my first bourbon barrel mead. This is really well made but I think I prefer my meads without bourbon in it.

Bottle from trade with umich03jm. Really eager to try a mead, especially something from this brewer. Has a light golden color sort of like a white wine. Aroma is slightly sweet, a little boozy, and reminds me of wine. Flavor is lightly sweet, with a strong alcohol presence, and some flavor of honey, and a hint of bourbon. Finishes sweet but in a good, and some warming alcohol. Very enjoyable and a great change of pace. Thanks for snagging this for me, JM.

Bottle courtesy of lionsandbeer trade brought to Vinny’s January 2013 tasting. Pours a clear, pale yellow body with no head or lacing. Aroma is bourbon, wax and honey. Mouthfeel is slick with notes of booze, honey, wax, bourbon and light flowers.

Bottle split with a bunch of heads couresty of James. Pours semi clear yellow color with no head or lacing. Notes of bourbon, butter, honey wax, bannana creme, and oak. Was a tad bit boozey but maintained a nice body and texture.

Bottle from BenC...thanks Ben! - Pours dark golden yellow with no head. Nose isn’t very pungent. Caramel, white grape, dry honey, and some fruitiness. Taste is roughly the same. Real smooth caramel and honey. Subtle and not overly sweet, but super mellow. Nice. Not overly thick or slick in the mouth. Great stuff.

Bottle at the Colorado Mead Tasting ’12. Pour is is golden yellow with no head and good legs. Bourbon, light raisin, vanilla, wood, honey, and almonds in the aroma. Taste is sweet bourbon, green apples, pear, honeycomb, vanilla, and wildflowers with a dry lingering finish. Syrupy mouthfeel with no carbonation. Really nice mead and the bourbon really helps balance out the sweetness and dries it out quite nicely.

Colorado mead tasting 2012 - surprisingly subtle nose - wildflower, vanilla, moderate bourbon, but not as in your face as most bourbon aged beers/meads - flavor of apple, pear, a touch of spice, vanilla - a very mild oak character - a touch of alcohol warmth in the finish - mellow compared to other kuhnhenn meads.

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Armin’s house. Thanks to Stephen! Pours a clear, light yellow appearance with no head. Quite sweet, fairly spicy, a bit sugary honey, vanilla aroma. Sweet apple, honey, vanilla, mild to moderate bourbon flavor with a fairly boozy finish.
