Sweet honey, loads of vanilla bean, bourbon, boozy, mouthfeel is typical of a mead (which is to say Im not a fan but wont give it below a 3 because its just a style thing). I think the flavors are pretty good but its hard to drink a lot of this one for me.

Rating from 2012 backlog. Pours yellow with no head. The nose is bourbon, honey, oaky vanilla. The taste is pretty much the same as the nose with some honeycomb in the finish. Oily bodied. Nice mead. 4.0

Recent vintage shared by jackl. Thanks! Pours a clear golden color, moderate legs. Aroma of intense vanilla, honey, bourbon, booze, floral notes, mild earth and fruity notes. The taste is vanilla, honey, earth, melon, stone fruits, citrus, whiskey. Medium bodied, very, very hot.

Bottle, cheers to JohnnieNepal! The pours medium gold. No head. Looks like concentrated white grape juice. The nose is strong vanilla toffee candy. Strong bourbon barrel. Hot woody vanilla extract. The taste is really hot. Strong honey and vanilla, little room for subtlety. The heat on the finish borders on the astringent. Full body, oily. No carbonation. Overall, solid, but this could definitely do with some cooling down.

2012 bottle - front says Vanilla Gorillabilly and the back says that it is a wildflower mead aged in bourbon barrels with LOADS of fresh vanilla beans. Clear amber pour - looks almost like a light bourbon. Nose is massive vanilla, a hint of honey and just a hint of bourbon. Slightly sweet, very vanilla taste with a pleasant bourbon finish. Nice.

Pour is golden with a slight brown tint on the edges. Aroma is of vanilla extract, honey, and booze. Flavor is much like the aroma, very sweet, lots of vanilla, honey, and some slight spice in the background. Not bad if you are a fan of vanilla, but slightly overpowering and cloying.

Pours light gold. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon and honey. Taste is vanilla forward, bourbon and honey follow. Crazy smooth for the abv. This is really nice.

Pour is a light clear yellow, no head lacing or legs to speak of. Nose is of vanilla dominantly. Taste is very similar, obviously with a honey backbone, and a light note of a little bourbon.

Pours clear yellow thanks to Doodler! Aroma has notes of vanilla, sweet honey, hints of slight sugary and floral notes as well. Taste is big sweet vanilla, some nice floral sweet honey, finishing fairly sweet and clean. Nice stuff!
