Bottle. Boozy Mead and berry aroma. Berries and chocolate. Honey sweet finish. Tastes every bit of 15%.

Bottle as Chocolate Raspberry Pyment (although pyment suggests wine, so this is almost definitely an alias of the Port version). Bloody red hued pour with massive and tight legs. Aromas are floral and honey like, sunflowers, dried fruit, mild raspberry, some acidity, earthy chocolate, nutty, barrel. Flavors are chocolatey, nutty, cocoa, alcohol, port, raspberry chocolate truffle, very rich, floral with dusty chocolate character. Huge maple component with hints of vanilla. Viscous and rich, absolutely decadent, barely kept in check by an acid and alcohol balance. Well done.

12oz bottle from the meadery. Pours a still inky purple. Aroma us heavy raspberry with cocoa and faint honey. Taste follows in an exceptionally well balanced mead. Loads of fruit with chocolate in the middle combined with sweet honey. Exquisite.

This poured a deep dark red with no head. Arom a was lots of cholate, raspberries, honey, and port character. Flavor similar, surprisingly not that sweet, great blend of dark fruit from the raspberries and port wine and chocolate character, while still leaving some underlying honey character. Lovely.

Bottle @ Kuhnhenn: Dee ruby crimson red color, only a few bubbles at the top. Aroma of semisweet baker’s chocolate, raspberry puree, red wine, sweet honey, flowers, & mild booze. Big flavor, sweet as hell with tons of juicy raspberry complimenting a decadent chocolate candy-like sweetness. Hint of tart raspberry to balance the chocolate & honey sweetness that carries into the finish. Boozy but not overly so. Warming. Sticky body. Pretty delicious.

Bottle at home, thanks Jeff! Pours dark red with no head. Huge aroma of chocolate and raspberries, and a bit boozy. Taste is lots of chocolate and lots of raspberries, very sweet and very nice. Very nice.

Pours like a glass of red wine. Aroma is berry juice, earthy with mild wine notes. Flavor is berry up front. Lightly tart with honey sweetness to provide balance. Slightly tannic with some earthy notes. Mild raw cocoa in the finish. A real nice sipper.

The pour is dark red with some slight tan tints around the edges. The smell is like a tootsie pop - there is really no other way to describe it. - milk chocolate, raspberry juice, slight booze. Flavor is not as good as the aroma but still quite nice. Raspberry liquor, finishing in a milk chocolate aftertaste. Boozy, sweet, good.

Consumed at a Christmas tasting in Chicago. Nose has good notes of chocolate and raspberry. Flavor is a bit strong, but still fairly drinkable. A sipper, but something nice to have an ounce or two of.
