UPDATED: OCT 27, 2014 Bottle: 2012. Thanks, Tammy. Rich, dark chestnut color with not much head, almost a completely bare top after a few moments. Aroma of fruity, jelly candy & light fruit cake. Lightly tart & modestly sweet raspberry notes with some other berry aromas, toasted nuttiness, & Skittles! No, seriously, lots of fruity candy. The taste is fruit cake. Seriously, bready & light toast, some raspberry, cherry, faint raisin, some caramel, light honey, toasted pecans, mild woodsy notes.... This is seriously like a Christmas dessert. Golden California raisin & toasted cakey finish. Sweet, desserty, & lathered in mild berry syrup. This is unique, & it’s pretty tasty.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2012 Draft. Aroma has notes of candied fruits, cherries, holiday spice and cough syrup. Hazy dark brown hue with a white head. Flavor is very very sweet and a nice sour/tart finish. Palate is very full bodied and cloying with a soft carbonation. Overall a much better experience this time. The beer was nice and very rich. Initial Rating: 8-3-7-3-13 Draft. Aroma has notes of mint, strong hydroponic weed, spice, cloves, cinnamon and weeds. Hazy medium amber hue w/ off-white head. Medium bodied. A fuckin nasty beer. Smelled like a pirate hooker with a yeast infection.

bottle from ’12 winter solstice. The pour is a little strange. A very hazy brownish color. Almost has a blue hue to it. Also has tons of stuff floating in it. The aroma has a bunch of fruit, with a hint of vinegar. The taste is a little thin, but yummy. An unusual beer, but tasty and something very different from a normal christmas beer. I get the punch reference earlier.

6th Annual MBG Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Sweet, fruitcake nose, with spice (anise, fennel), candied fruit, and a soapy medicinal bitterness in the body. Strange. If I drank a full glass I suspect this would score lower.

Bottle received from Ken, thanks for picking me up bottles man! Pours a completely opaque/murky reddish brown in color with very little head on the pour. Nose is pretty medicinal, smells a lot like berry, cherry cough syrup in particular. Flavor is pretty one dimensional berry as well. It is reminiscent of a fruit cake, there is some bready/doughiness to it. Mouthfeel is light and a little syrupy, not much in terms of carbonation, a moderate finish, and only slightly boozy. Not bad, not great, decent middle of the road beer. Happy I got to try it.

Aroma is raspberry dominant with fig and raisins with nuts and toast malt. Flavor is lightly tart dried fruits, toast and nutty malt with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
