3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
13th February 2010
Opaque black stout. Light vanilla nose. Palate is light and a little crisp. Sweet burned vanilla malt - quite airy. Minerals. Finishes soft and pretty dry. A distinctive beer but the Southern Tier is casting a long shadow here. Still good though.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a black color with an average light brown head that diminished slowly and produced good lacing. Heavy vanilla and caramel coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky creamy texture. Full sweet roasted malt flavor with a moderate finish. Good brew.

Name: Creme Brulee Java Stout
Words: March 2006
opens with a loud pffft, pours solid black with a huge solid tan head, rich roasted espresso aroma with a hint of sweetness, very lively mouthfeel with the abundance of carbonation but eventually settles down and becomes creamy, rich roasted malt flavor, light coffee bitterness hiding a slight tart edge, very dry, not a complex flavor, just a good dry stout with a big coffee edge, goes well with dark chocolate covered espresso beans

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft... This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a creamy, well-tanned head. Excellent retention. Smells like rich Crème Brûlée; vanilla beans, heavy cream, brown sugar and all. The flavor is a blend of coffee, brown sugar and nuts without cloying sweetness. Lightly acidic. Full-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes chocolaty and tangy. Different, world class brew!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle acquired in trade with Styles (thanks!). Bottle labeled best before 8/4/05 & bottled on 4/4/05. Poured a dark black with brown edges and an averaged sized brown head. Aromas of lactose, chocolate, coffee, and light vanilla. I was really into this aroma and it reminded me of a coffee latte. Tastes of light sour milk (is that because this bottle is a couple months past date), bitter coffee, and caramel. Tastes a little bit of a let down compare to the awesome aroma.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: NOV 2, 2010 terrific brewed coffee aroma, and very nice appearance. The rest of the experience is average. There is vanilla, some woodiness, but surprisingly sour. A fresh newly bottled beer, thanks to Tim (IPFreely) for sharing

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sample at the "Beer Tasting on the Front Porch", courtesy of JaBier. Pours brownish-black with a medium light brown head that recedes steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Sweet caramel and toffee aroma with a mocha note. Rich and sweet body with flavors of coffee, caramel, vanilla and malt. The finish is sweet caramel with a mild coffee aftertaste. Definitely a sipper, but the coffee aspect definitely keeps it from being over the top sweet like Southern Tier’s version. A great beer overall.
