Draft sample at MBGF07. Poured hazy brown color with medium fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma was complex sweet malty yeasty. Medium body. Medium sweet rootbeer flavor with medium bittersweet with small alcohol bite finish. Good brew worth trying with some age.

RBSG 2007. Growler. Murky copper color with no head. Slight aroma of coriander and generally spicy. Thin malt body with a large yeast profile and spices.

RBSG grand tasting. Growler. A slightly hazed brown pour with no head or lace. A slightly sour drink that is almost tart. Solid palate that is neither fizzy nor watery. A good beer that I’m sure would be better from the tap fresh.

On tap: The aroma consists of grapes and plums with just a hint of alcohol. It’s a hazy brown with some orange hilights and a small off-white head. The flavor starts with plum, light apple, and a touch of grape. The finish has some faint tartness with a touch of alcohol.

Grape, well-rounded, sweet and partially vinous. Hazy, mahagony brown. Has a toasted malt backbone. Finishes drier than I expected. Interesting, but not awesome.

Dark brown body with small, wispy tan head. The aroma is light banana, caramel and raisins. The flavor is candi sugar, bananas and plums. Medium body is soft with light carbonation and just a touch medicinal on the finish.

A solid 10.5 % beer. Nice rich dark flavor. Not entirely what I want from a dark Belgian, but a good beer nevertheless.
