hopscotch (9962) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2015
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2015 Bottle... Pours clear and amber with shimmers of mahogany and no legs. The bouquet is tannic, fruity and loaded with dark, bold, tropical blossom honeys. Full-bodied and oily with only the dawn of carbonation. The flavor is all about hearty honey. Sticks to your ribs. Whatever beery component there may have been is long gone, and I say “good riddance.” Warming boozy finish. Bottle courtesy of FlandersNed!

Doppelbock sort of smell. Medium sharp carbonation. Malty toasty taste with strong raisin/prune notes and a bit of alcohol.

"an interesting and complex blend of sweet honey, grassy hops, tobacco, ripe fruit. alcohol evident but not overpowering at 16%, and the complexity is through the roof. nice, unique brew."

Blairgus (3008) - California, USA - JUL 18, 2014
17 July 3014, bottle. Ruby, clear, no bubbles. Nose is amazing! Meaty, sweet, bourbon, raisins, alcohol. Med body, faintly fizzy, syrupy. It's like raisin syrup or raisin candy. Wow! Alcohol is fairly noticeable bit not harsh or overpowering. Really sweet and sugary. Wow!

12 oz. bottle shared. Pours a clear dark caramel color with zero head. The aroma and flavor have honey, alcohol, some of the doppelbock character, cherry, vanilla, slight woody quality. I like their more traditional meads bettter but this was decent.

jercraigs (8294) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 26, 2012
2012-11-18. Lovely crisp dark brown body, headless. 3+ Sweet aroma, honey, modest alcohol, muted sweet malt/caramel like notes but that is not quite it. Flavour is quite sweet, notes of syrupy honey, light sweet grainy touches in the aroma and flavour but pleasantly so. Muted tea like tannins in the finish. Alcohol is shockingly mild considering the strength. Enjoyable, sweet and fairly simple. Smooth not quite syrupy average plus to medium bodied palate. Bottle, note on cap says 12/2011 via trade with flandersned

BOLTZ7555 (2935) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Bottle via trade with punkrkr27! Dark mahogany pour with a few bubbles an zero head. Similar dark fruit, prune and raisin as the lager but with the added sweetness of honey. Abviously, not a lot of carbonation. Nothing distinct or anything to ignite the palate. Needs a bit to make this exciting. Not there.
