Kuhnhenn Dark Heathen Triple Bock

Pours a transparent deep amber mahogany with a thin ring of tan head. Aroma has sweet viscous dark caramel malty, complex brown sugary, bready lager yeasty character. Body starts viscous and sweet with good mildly earthy lager yeasty complexity. Nice sweet and complexity balance and should age very well.

Sample graciously provided by Eric Kuhnhenn. Murky dark brown/auburn with a thick, creamy, light tan head. The head forms a lasting cover. The nose is losded with esters and phenols, some banana, candi sugar, fairly sweet with lots of fruits. The flavor is caramel and apple cider with some banana and toffee. The mouthfeel is smooth with a dry, slightly astringent finish. Wow, I just realized this was 13.5%! Never had a clue. Well done!

From a growler at DLD06 thanks to BBB63. Hot aroma, caramel, alcohol, really strong with some dried cherry notes. Darker brown with some ruby touches around the side and no head. Flavor is just loaded with that chewy, caramel malt flavor....heavy and not super complex...just tons of carmelized malt. Interesting...

Enjoyed at the Dark Lord party. Heavy,heavy,syrupy brew with massive amounts of toffee and caramel.Almost candylike in its sweetness.heavy with alcohol. It needs some time to even out as it is just to one dimensional.

Wow, this thing is filled with fruity syrupy sweet aromas. There is zero head and not even a sign of any carbonation, it’s almost barley wine like. The colour is a deep deep amber/ruby/brown that is clear, but opaque. The flavour is a lot...too much maybe. It’s a lot like blueberry pancakes, with a huge mound of sugar piled on top. There is some alcohol in there, but I think I may have to echo some others and say it’s a bit too much.

Bottle thanks to Walleye: All this is missing is raspberries. Dark brown, almost black. No head. A little breadiness/wheat, some sweetness as well, dark fruits. There is some alcohol present in the flavor as well. I enjoyed it.

Huge body with tons of legs around the glass. pancake surup aroma with some notes of dark fruits (alcohol soaked cherries). big maple surup flavors with quite a bit of alcoholic heat. way to cloying surupy palate that coats the mouth like no other. astringent and way too much for my tastes.
