3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap: murky, swamp-like brown with a gray & off-white head. Aroma is subdued maltiness, light musty wood, a touch of, some roasted nuts, mild caramel, & a touch of ashy hops. Taste is nutty, light cocoa dust, some polished wood, a little alcohol, & a touch of green apple in the back end. Lightly sweet throughout, malty with a touch of roasty. Nice brown ale.

On tap @ Henrik. This is a deep and dark brown looking one. It also has a nice super lacing dense and creamy beige top. It’s both candy sweet and chocolaty on the nose this. Hoppy, yeah, and it has a fruity red-fruit sweetness also. Smells nice if not extreme. Tastes nice also. Immediately it feels a bit astringent on the mouthfeel. Light oily on the texture and it has a near creamy growing carbonation level. Soft nutty chocolaty bitterness in the taste with traces of coffee and wood. A little dry cocoa powder also present here before it ends in a a acidic near wood sour finish and aftertaste. Solid stuff. 13.02.2014

On tap at Churchkey in D.C.
The beer is a sienna shade of brown with a soapy head. The aroma brings malt, sourdough bread, biscuits. Similar flavor, with a touch of bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking with moderately low carbonation. Pretty good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reviewed from notes. Consumed at the Brewery June 2013.
The appearance had a dark brown body with less than a finger of an off white slightly foamy head, a decent amount of lacing graces the sides of the glass.
The smell was nutty, some coffee, some light chocolate, malts, bread all coming through in a sort of way.
The taste was mainly sweet, roasty and dry through the previously mentioned flavors, sweet dry aftertaste and finish.
The palate sat about a medium, sessionable, adequately carbonated and also is good to me as well, slightly crisp.
Overall, I say this is good for the style and good for me as I would have this again.

Craft Islington. Keg. Thanks to Tom for this one. Opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Palate is semi dry with mild carbonation. Tangy dark malts. No roast or bitterness. Light pruney fruits and lesser generic dark fruits. Tangy light finish. Pretty drinkable.
