COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor pro-file. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice con-tributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

Poured from a 64oz growler. Aroma is fairly malty with some toasted bread, caramel, and cracker notes. Medium hop notes with a strong dank character to it. Onions, garlic and some lighter citrus and pine resin. Pours a fairly clear, copper amber color with medium sized, slightly off white head that recedes to a thin film that lingers thicker on this edges. Light lacing and medium length legs. Flavor has a medium light malt note with some toasted bread, caramel and dark cracker notes. High amounts of bitterness. Lots of dank onion hop notes but a bit more grapefruit and pine resin than in the aroma. Some light alcohol spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, I am not a fan. I’m not sure if my tastes have changed or if the beer has changed. It’s way maltier and the hop profile is way more dank than I remember.

Majority of 4 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s taproom in Warren, Michigan. Consumed on 4-21-16. Pours a clear gold. Long-lasting effervescence elevates the appearance. Good, cream-colored head and lacing. Smells very good. Lemon and lemongrass hoppiness in the aroma. Surprisingly bitter in flavor yet has a sweet cream quality as well. Lemon and grapefruit flavors. Dry aftertaste. Medium body. Frothy in the palate. Unremarkable palate effects.

Süßlich-dickflüssig. Leicht herb. Nice. intense, thick and viscous. Nice sweetish malty aftertaste, rich intense floral hops.

32 oz. growler. Clear pale orange. A few bubbles. Citrus hop aroma. Interesting sugar smell. I guess that’s the rice. Tastes much hoppier. Bright citrus. Sugar flavor is interesting here too. Light sweetness. Almost no bitterness. Low carbonation. Stupid plastic growler caps. Light body. I get that the rice makes it lighter and, apparently, taste less alcoholic. It’s pretty dramatic. Unique flavor from the rice, though.

Excited to try this. Arrived today in a box from Umich03jm. Thanks, Jason! Pours copper with an off white head. Aroma is grapefruit and pine. Taste is dry with pine and grapefruit. This has a nice balance and is very drinkable for a 9% IPA.

32 oz. Growler shared by Willrunforbeer, dude, pimping. Lightly hazy gold color with thin bubbles of head in the chalice. Aroma is tropical fruit, mild pine and yeast.

Flavor has juicy grapefruit, pine though the center, mild notes of alcohol in the finish but not distracting. I can’t pickup the rice but the fruit and pine are pretty nice. Balance of malt and hop profile really gives this a pretty high drinkability. And to the Brewers credit, it doesn’t come off to sweet which is easy to do with a huge grain bill. Very nicely worked!

From tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. Clear golden orange color with off white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, caramel, citrusy fruity, pine, alcohol. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Very piny and herbal. Thick and slightly sweet with a little extra I just can’t place. Ok overall, but not a standout in style.
