Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor pro-file. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice con-tributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

Draft pint at the brewpub. What a beauty ... Light orange and pillowy. Beautifully hoppy and citric, quite full-bodied. Big beer that manages to be light in character, too, and deceptively strong. Exceptional. (#3818, 1/25/2010)

On draft at Uptown Grill. Pale golden color, floral hop aroma. Flavor strong of floral and herbal hops, running over an interesting undercurrent of a flavor that maybe is from the rice? Has a finish that is strangely sticky-sweet.

On tap in semi-clean tulip at 4th Ave Pub. Orange with quickly dissipating white head. Orangy citrus hop and cake aroma. Orange honey cracker (rice cakes?) sweet fruitiness with fairly assertive citrus resin hop bitter finish. Didn’t seem necessarily dryer and crisper than other good ipas. Pretty good.

Tap at Fourth Ave Pub: Hazy orange beer leaves an off white lacing. Big sticky citrus aroma- some cookiesh chewy pale malts and reainy citrusy hops. Pretty substantial body, but not sticky. Has a cookiesh malt background along with a big citrusy/orangey hop presence. Quite resiny with a vegetal character. Seems a bit past it’s prime- I’d wanna try this very fresh.

On tap at the Fourth Ave. Pub. Pours a hazy lightly browned amber with a medium to large white head. Pineapple. Tons of it. Crisp and fresh, loads of earthy citrus and pine all over an ample malty and sweet caramel backbone. Finishes with a light warming alcohol and a big slow grapefruit bitterness.

tap at brewpub. pours a clear golden with a nice frothy white head. nice bright citrusy grapefruit hops. fresh flowers. taste still has a strong citrusy hop presence, but a lot of booze comes through. fortunately, there are enough big bold hops to balance this out nicely. My second favorite beer from kuhnhenn’s to date, after KRE.

A nice DIPA, at the 2009 Winter Solstice. The rice gives it an interesting drinkability and sweetness. Really bitter, really lacey, on a grapefruit body. ABove average smooth mouthfeel.

Pours a clear copper red. Nice creamy off white head, fully diminishing with excellent lacing. The aroma is big hoppiness, grapefruit, a little pine. The taste is bitter, hoppy, kicks your butt! Excellent, drank a lot there then went back a couple days later and got a growler, a very good brew.

Draft. Pours an amber body with a white lacing. Lots of floral hop resins. Pine, grapefruit, resins, with light honey. Etoh is in the finish but well hidden by the hops.
