Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor pro-file. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice con-tributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a nice copper-amber color with an off-white head and a pretty good amount of lacing. The nose is a hop bomb with loads of citrus and pine hops. A bit of light malt in the background, but the hops are the definite showcase in this one. The taste is quite bitter and hoppy. Resinous indeed. Some light malt in the background. Bitter, dry feel with pretty great drinkability. A bit hit--so much so that my mother, who normally sticks nearly-exclusively to Two Hearted, grabbed a growler of this to take home. Thanks to Alex for picking this up for me; a growler into a Bells tulip...Pours a dark peach that is pretty clear, looks watery. Off white head with good carbonation for a week old growler, good lacing...The aroma is really boozy, distractingly so. Light grass show off some hops but after the alcohol I get tons of rye, this really comes off to me as rye not rice ipa...The taste is very similar to the aroma, way to much rye comes through to make this a really enjoyable ipa to me. A typically boozy Kuhnhenn ipa. Not there best, but passable to drink.

(beer tasting @ Monty’s Krown - Rochester, NY: Growler) Orange pour with a frothy white head. Sweet and very hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and a little touch of malt. Flavor is sweet at the start but very hoppy near the middle. The dryness really hits near the finish, in striking contrast to a standard IPA. Light sweetness on the aftertaste. Really nice.

Poured up on tap at the Kuhnhenn brewpub with deep copper body and off white head. The aroma offers up rich sticky pine hops as well as a mild level of gravel like earthiness. The taste is full and rich and yummy with a bold thicket of pine hop flavor as well as resiny bitterness mixing nicely with a faint sweet base. The pine just goes on and on and is fresh bold rich and yummy. It leaves plenty of pine hops into the finish and after taste as well as a dash of sweetness that lends balance to the experience. Overall the palate comes across as thin but this is one enjoyable hoppy experience.

Via growler. Pours a hazy lightly browned amber with a medium to large white head. Pineapple. Tons of it. Crisp and fresh, loads of earthy citrus and pine all over an ample malty and sweet caramel backbone. Finishes with a light warming alcohol and a big slow grapefruit bitterness.

Sampled from a bottle at Mondial de la bière. Copper, with a small off-white head. Not a super hoppy aroma, but sweet citrus, grassy caramel, and something sour are detectable. There is nice malt-hop balance in the flavour, but neither is strong, and but it really doesn’t stand out in any way. Average.

Draft at Blind Tiger. Clear, deep gold body with a creamy white head. Delicious aroma of orange, grapefruit, flowers and bread. Hints of tropical fruit and earthiness. The flavor is moderately bitter and moderately sweet. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture turning sticky in the finish, lively carbonation. Long lingering bitterness. Delicious mix of citrus and sweet orange with spicy hop notes keeping them in check.
