COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor pro-file. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice con-tributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

Poured up on tap at the Kuhnhenn brewpub with deep copper body and off white head. The aroma offers up rich sticky pine hops as well as a mild level of gravel like earthiness. The taste is full and rich and yummy with a bold thicket of pine hop flavor as well as resiny bitterness mixing nicely with a faint sweet base. The pine just goes on and on and is fresh bold rich and yummy. It leaves plenty of pine hops into the finish and after taste as well as a dash of sweetness that lends balance to the experience. Overall the palate comes across as thin but this is one enjoyable hoppy experience.

Via growler. Pours a hazy lightly browned amber with a medium to large white head. Pineapple. Tons of it. Crisp and fresh, loads of earthy citrus and pine all over an ample malty and sweet caramel backbone. Finishes with a light warming alcohol and a big slow grapefruit bitterness.

Sampled from a bottle at Mondial de la bière. Copper, with a small off-white head. Not a super hoppy aroma, but sweet citrus, grassy caramel, and something sour are detectable. There is nice malt-hop balance in the flavour, but neither is strong, and but it really doesn’t stand out in any way. Average.

Draft at Blind Tiger. Clear, deep gold body with a creamy white head. Delicious aroma of orange, grapefruit, flowers and bread. Hints of tropical fruit and earthiness. The flavor is moderately bitter and moderately sweet. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture turning sticky in the finish, lively carbonation. Long lingering bitterness. Delicious mix of citrus and sweet orange with spicy hop notes keeping them in check.

Draught at Spuyten Duyvil. Distinct caramelly grapefruity aroma. Very cloudy orange colour. Small off-white head. Very nice hop flavour, the same as aroma. Good and flavourful.

This poured a somewhat hazy orange colorw ith and off white head. Aroma was of pine trees, citrus, pineapple, and herbs. Flavor was very piney, lots of pineapple, some earthy herbal notes too. An excelelnt Double IPA. Only thing that reduces is the alcohol is a bit prevailent once this one warms.

Draft pours hazy medium amber with a one-finger white head. The aroma is big on citrusy hops, with a caramel and slightly toasty malt base. Now I thought this was actually a double RYE IPA, not a double RICE IPA, and I must say I listed rye among my tasting notes. Palate fail I guess. Flavor is nice with sweet caramel malt, something I perceived as rye somehow, and citrusy and resinous hops. They say this one should be drier and crisper than a typical DIPA, but I didn’t get that. It was slightly syrupy and medium-full bodied, with low carbonation. Maybe the draft system was off somehow? Decent stuff overall though.
