4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear, golden-orange colored body with an inch thick, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is awesome. Very fruity and has tons of bright citruses with lots of grapefruits and some pineapples as well as a bit of a spicy tropical fruitiness. There is a bit of a plum and rice spice making it feel Asian-esque too. Lots of florals, some pines, resins, and a light malt that offers a pleasant sweetness and brings out the fruity hops very nicely. Flavor is similar. Lots of bright citrus grapefruits and pineapples up front with some resins and a very nice mix of florals and pines. Some more of that Asian inspired, rice and plumminess too. The malts are on the lighter side, but there is a touch of caramel and graininess that seems to accentuate the hops. Finishes dry with a moderate, citrusy and bright bitterness as well as lots of florals and some more tropical fruits. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a damn good DIPA. Tons of bright citruses and a really cool, rice-Asian-plum aspect. Very well balanced and easy drinking. Wonderful beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a deep copper color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Piney hops and toasted malt in the nose. Full body with flavors of citrus and pineapple, piney hops and a sweet malt base. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty good overall.

Crushed at GABF ’10. Big time hop presence in this one. Interesting idea here. I wonder what inspired it. This is just a big, hopped-up DIPA made for people like me. Dug it.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the RnH Kuhnhenn event. For me this was one of the stars of the show. It is undoubtedly the first rice IPA I have tried, and the combination of elements worked out very nicely. Orange, lemon, and hop aroma (simcoe?). The flavor contains orange, plenty of rice, lime, and hops. The rice gives it an Asian feel and the strong hops an American feel. The ABV was surprisingly high at 10%, if I recall correctly. You could call it a Pacific classic - really good brew.

Tap at Rattle for the Kuhnhenn takeover. Pours clear gold/amber. Huge hop aroma with lots of citrus, pine, and floral notes, along with a hint of malt. Dry and smooth, definitely notice a bit of rice flavor, piny hop bitterness, taste is a bit mild. Very solid.
