The Duvil in Miss Jones is a Sour Belgian Golden Ale. Brewed as an homage to the world-class Duvel, but with a twist, as in a lemony acidity that provides just enough tartness without being overbearing. The tart notes also help mask the alcohol, at 8.5% ABV.

We cellared this brew for 2 years after bottling, releasing it at the Winter Solstice Celebration this past December 2014.

Sampled at a tasting. Five years old. Clear honey gold with an off white ring. Oxidation city. A really old line for a too well aged beer. Fruit is tangerine. Not bad, really. Some sugar. This is a sour? Bacteria died of old age.

2011 bottle. About 3 years old. Thanks Tammy. Hazy light orange pour with very little head. Aroma is mixture of fruit juice and Belgian yeast. Oranges, passion fruit, cherry, banana, and berries. Tastes moderately sweet and juicy. Like banana and citrus juice. Nice tartness in the finish. Cool beer. I had this fresh and donít remember liking it much. Like most Kuhnhenn, this is better with age.

12 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Nose hints at a cloyingly sweet beer, with loads of candied sugar, oranges and perfume. Flavour is bizarre, with lots of candied sugar, but also lots of tart citrus fruits. Weird combination. They sort of balance each other out, but also seem to cancel each other out. Not an overly pleasant beer. Drinkable in small doses, but ultimately off the mark.

2011 bottle via trade. 2011 bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy amber and had almost no head. Aroma of apples, pears, spices, and caramel. Taste was overly sweet to me. I got most of the stuff from the nose in there, but this was just sickly sweet. Iím wondering if this is in the wrong style because it didnít seem like a Belgian strong. Not terrible, but nothing special. Dry finish and alcohol hid well by the sweetness.

2011 bottle. Pours a bright golden, with a small white head, moderate lacing. Aromas of tart apple, hay, light spice, bread and earthy hops. Taste is slightly tart, wheat laden but light. Nicely refreshing, but seems to missing something in the finish. Semi-dry. Light spice and clove. Decent brew.

From the April 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a small foamy white head that left no lacing. The aroma was faintly tart, a bit sour and a bit of vinegar. The flavor was sour and tangy with citric acid and pear. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.
