2010 bottle, my bottle said 15.5% alcohol. Shared with a bunch of friends at Bill/Franks "end of the world" tasting. One of the top big beers of the night next to the ’05 Darklord and ’05 Gratitude. Red-brown pour, slightly clearish accompanied by very thin head. Aroma and taste of dark cherry, caramel malt, bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee. I thought it was boozey but others said it was tamed for the amount. Guess I am not used to drinking stuff this heavy on a regular basis. Really nice barleywine though.

Bottle at home shared with friends courtesy of Armin. Thanks Man!! Poured a light brown with an amber tint and little-to-no head. Smell is big raisin, bourbon, prune, vanilla, wood, and grass. Taste is very alcoholic, prunes, raisins, vanilla, oak, bourbon, and whiskey. Mouthfeel is very thin with almost no carbonation. Almost like an aged glass of whiskey and somewhat difficult to take down. Not bad, but you definitely need to share this one.

Bottle @ Stephen’s house, courtesy of Armin. Thank you! Cloudy brown appearance with a tiny cream head. Caramel, bourbon, vanilla, woody, burnt, slightly harsh, boozy aroma. Huge fruity, toffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, super boozy flavor. Over the top for me but it does have a nice flavor.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dcschiller (2033) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 27, 2012
(12oz bottle from Rayl101!. 15.5% abv). Pours a dark mahogany color with a thin off-white head that rings the rim of the glass. Aroma is dried fruit, candied sugar, caramel, some vanilla. Taste is sweet with the lager yeast definitely giving this barleywine a different profile. Lots of dried fruit flavors here. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. Smooth and sweet. This is pretty good stuff and the abv is hidden quite well.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 emacgee (3506) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - NOV 28, 2011
Pours an extremely rich and clean burnt copper with wisps of sandstone tan head. Very rich and dense nose, lots of dark fruit and spice. Dessertish with a port-like quality, notes of prune and other dried fruit, sweet bread, alcohol helps carry those aromatics out. Flavor lacks some of the complexities of the nose. Definitely rich with a heavy showing of dark fruits, prune and raisin. About as much heat as expected at 15.5%. Full round body and coating palate.
