12oz bottle acquired in trade (thank you very much Derek!). Poured a dark, dark brown color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of roastiness, chocoalte, dark fruits, molasses, caramel, port wine, and nutty. Tastes of dark fruits, nutty, molasses, port, caramel, and vanilla. Sweet, but not cloying. Some alcohol in the finish, but no where near 15%. I wish I had more of these!

Bottle... GSRARO Throwdown... Pours pitch black and sits a murky burnt orange in my glass. Small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The incredibly complex aroma is a rich, sticky swirl of maple, dried dark fruits, caramel, wood, chocolate, tobacco, leather, cinnamon and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Booze and sweet molasses with dark, roasty notes. Mild bitterness; light acidity. Finishes sweet, tangy and warming.

Bottle shared by puzzl, via eyedrinkale. Deep dark brown beer. Aroma is really intense. Thick, sweet richness. Cocoa, soy, brown sugar, rum, treacle and molasses. Some more licorice and rye toast as well. Quite leathery, dark and dank. The flavour is very rich and chewy with all kinds of sweet and savoury components. Really reminds me of Triple bock... and like that one, I find it quite interesting and complex, but it’s just a bit too much. I had a hard time getting through my 2 oz... I couldn’t imagine a whole bottle.

It’s like Dave. Slightly oxidized but full of resinous and woody scotch, burnt honey, fresh tobacco and leather. Low carbonation, thick, syrupy, slightly over-sweet, but works well with a dense burnt peach and apricot sweetness throughout. An amazing mood beer.

bottle at DLD 2009 ... And the Star of the whole SHOW ... brown ... sweet rich toffeee ... dark malts and little treacle nose ... smooth roast toffee malts ... soft rich with a little coffee... but the balance is just perfect ... some plums and molasses...low carbonation... Ok id be tempted with a trade on this one, despite trying to stop trading.

Bottled at DLD. Poured deep, murky brown with almost zero head. The aroma picked up lots and lots of bourbon and oxidation above aged caramel, molasses, and soy maltage.. huge and not entirely cohesive. The flavor was similar to the nose with lots of thick malts (caramel, chocolate, and molasses) with bourbon and vanilla all over.. slightly toasty finish with prickly alcohol over the heavy maltage. Very heavily-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. this seemed to ooze across the palate, and it managed to hit all the proper tastebuds.. it took a while to grow on me, but I really enjoyed it.
