Sampling courtesy of the brewers. Oily amber with no head, just a ring of film. Aroma very woodsy caramel. Very oily thick body. Flavor is a little hard to pinpoint. Iinitially it’s caramel but has some fruit character to it, and I’m guessing maybe barrel aged (merlot). Alcohol also detectable in the flavor. Very enjoyable brew.

Bottle sample provided by the brewers. I am unsure of how old this one is, hops are subdued in aroma. Malt seems to dominate the nose, a little musty, some caramel. Full bodied and smooth. Alcohol hidden well. Just enough hop presence left in the finish to provide a bit of balance. Nicely done.

On tap: Lots of buttery caramel in the aroma with a moderate wood and alcohol presence. Pours a transparent reddish-orange with an off-white ring for a head. Caramel up front witn a woody hop finish. Slight sourness barely sneaks into the finish but quickly covered up by the wood flavors and hops. Alcohol flavor is definitely noticeable, but not really any burn.

Thanks again Brett. Sparkling dark orange, thin creamy off-white head. As it warmed, the nose held nice notes of orange peel, soft toffee and caramel, with lighter tones of pine. Flavor was mostly a hop assault up front with a tangy hop bitterness predominate, and only a slight sweet maltiness at the very end of each sip. Medium to full bodied, medium carbonation, Mojave dry, bitter orangey citric finish. Good brew that will continue to age nicely...
