3oz pour at the Kuhnhenn Brew Pub. Golden / yellow color with a small sized head. Yep, this one was spices...all kinds of spices. Honey sweetness with a long spice finish.

Pours pale yellow. Aroma of clove and star anise. Flavor is cinnamon like up front. Waves of clove and black licorice power through. Nice light sweetness provides balance to the spice. The finish has a mild earthy burn. It’s a tad on the thin side and mildly dry in the finish. Verdict: I like it.

Bottle shared with Brendan and Paul. Pours a clear body with golden tint and no head or lacing. Aroma is chock full of spice - lots going on, but unfortunately I am far from an expert connoisseur when it comes to spice variations. Mouthfeel is medium to syrupy with notes of honey, apple, lemon, flowers, and lots of spice. Very nice overall.

375 ml shared by Drew. Thanks! Pours a richer golden pour, transparent faint haze. A loose whitish bubbly head dies to a loose film, laces small. Aromas are richer honey, fruit, and spicy pepper. Touches of masala, spicy chile, and touches of honey, apple crisp. Gentle spice, cidery. A bit sweet and spicy, cinnamon and peppers. Initial is middle bodied mead, some legs with peppery elements, cinnamon and gentle honey. Kiss of lemon, fruit, and bread. Honey, gentle sweetness grows. Middle is mellow sweet, touch of dryness and grass, gentle spirit. Backend is gentle spice, more cinnamon and a touch of masala. Gentle nutmeg, spice, and cinnamon linger on. Finish is a touch dry and sweet, melding well. Lingering cinnamon, touches of spice, not really a heated peppery element. Solid. Still, a dab of carbonation could give it a bit of body.

Glass at the brewpub. A little spice and Xmassy, a big changeup from their regular spiced mead. Licorice and boozy, not so drinkable.

375ml bottle. Much thanks to Andrew for sharing... Bottle yields a still crystally transparent apple cidery hue with a small ring of bubbles that cling to the edges of the glass. Light on the legs and not as layering as other meads from kbrewery... Aroma has quite a bit of cinnamon upfront, lighter nutmeg, and can’t tell much beyond the aforementioned. Nice but dominated by the spice profile. Honey is still apparent overall, not quite overwhelmed by the initial. A touch of florals add an additional layer of complexity. Digging the aroma actually... Flavors come up a bit short unfortunately with the spices remaining apparent, adding a little bit of spicy pepper, but the off-dry nature of the honey as well as its flabby watery body leaves me desiring more. A sweeter honey profile with a bigger body would have worked nicely it seems. A bouquet of apricot and florals come through late as does a fair amount of heat and warmth.

Bottle. Pours gold no head. Honey and fireballs. Flavors fireballs, bigger honey finish. Flabby feel, minerally finish. Good heat on the back end. Too watery.
