Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

12 oz bottle. 2013 vintage. Holy smokes. The pour is like muddy lake water. There is no head to be found and as such, no lace either. The aroma is extraordinarily complex. There is a beautiful sweet toffee or caramel with dark fruits galore and a wonderful apple cider character. There are dominant figs and a light marshmallow-ey note. The flavor is just as complex. It starts off like the cider and roars through the labyrinth of dark fruits. The toffee comes through strong on the back end. The mouth feel is perfect. Thick, minimal carbonation, the flavors coat and cling to the tongue. The finish is a touch dry, with a light warming from the 13.5% ABV. Overall just an amazing beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of Tom Cadden, cheers Tom!. Consumed at home Friday 27th December 2013 Dark murky conker brown with just a rim of bubbles looking down into a brown gloomy abyss. Loz smells chocolate on my breath lots of it, I think more black treacle with some caramel. However in the mouth there is some chocolate (bitter & dark) and caramel. This is very full bodied with a considerable warm oomph from the alcohol. A very enjoyable beer, ok perhaps a little sweet but it is the bitter dark treacle sweetness tgat I mentioned so quite different and far more interesting than a typically cloyingly sweet beer. Like this, cheers Tom! A7 A3 T9 P4 Ov16 3.9

2013. Tap. Really like this but prefer the barrel aged that subdues some of the sweetness. Pours dark red brown tan head. Big caramel fudge aroma and maybe a little brown sugar. Dark fruit, very sweet caramel, nice hop profile but the sweetness takes over.

2011bottle through trade. Pour has a very dark nutty brown color with a ring of tan head on the glass. Aroma has a cocktail of malts, chocolate, toffee, and dark fruit. Mouth feel is a medium and the carbonation very low though there is a touch still to be found. Flavor is nice and richly malted, chocolate, aged hops, caramel, and a light bit of heat.

Pours dark almost opaque, fruity and sweet but not in a cloying way. Excellent balance of flavours, hoppy on the back end, great

2006 Bottle
Darkish brown, soft haze hue. Nose is huge over bitter/sour rich nose. Impressive but a little bubble of infection through things. Light brown sugar. Stewed unvined dark berry - odd but decent.
Dense bitter berry, rich and off but it does work itís way in. Like a nice veg stock, turns itself in. Fairly bitter and acrhid on the finish, but I can go easy for itís age - soured but not ruinously.

Bottle, thanks CAGarvietron, November Tasting.
