Pours a dark clear mahogany with an off white ring of head that quickly disappears. Awesome aromas of caramel, figs, dates and malt. Tastes about the same with an intense kick from the alcohol. Long warm finish. Good unique brew.

Deep brown, no head. Smells like oak and molasses and soy sauce. Smooth, rich palate. Flavor is pretty much the same, but maybe a bit more soy sauce. Perhaps a bit...salty? Weird...

Powerful and different. Apparently, the 2013 version has 13.5% alcohol. The aroma was strong with malts, hops and some wood. It had an antiseptic hint to it. Old ales are always a throw of the dice since they don’t necessarily follow any style points. The palate was smooth and oily with low carbonation. It had a murky copper-brown color. It tasted sweet and somewhat boozy with a dry hop finish. It was good and unique but by far not my favorite from this brewery.

Draft at Kuhnhenn - pours a mahogany brown with thin tan head . Aromas of reasons and figs . Flavors include caramel , toffee , dark fruit , and alittle bit of heaven. Finish is sweet. An excellent brew .

Bottle. 2012 & 2010 vintages. Very different beers. Both excellent. Amber. No head. Raisins, brown sugar, caramel aroma. Sweet smooth big body. Very enjoyable.

2012 bottle. Copper pour, little head. Sweet sroma, brown sugar, plum, fig. Very sweet, though alcohol is subdued. Dried dark fruits, brown sugar, molasses, hints of oak. Lower carb.

2013 bottle. 13.5%. Thanks Mike. Very sweet aroma. Came sugar and caramel. Taste is her sweet and boozy. Caramel. Toffee. Vanilla. Marshmallow. More sugar. More booze. Some dark fruits raisins and figs. Probably better with some age. I’ll sit on my second bottle for a bit and report back.

Pour is dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is dominated by sweet dark fruit, caramel, and a touch of booze. Flavor leans towards the malts with notes of raisins, figs, smoke, leather, nuts, and licorice. Slightly bitter finish, medium bodied, good carbonation.

Thick, oily, viscous brown-amber body. Sweet molasses brown sugar richness. Really quite nice. Easy on the palate, maple sweetness covers up the alcohol well. Really well done, big caramel tones. An excellent dessert beer, leaning into liqueur.

Bottle. 2010 vintage. Massive sweet slick caramel nose, with some moderately aged cheese, raisins, and light berries. Clear dark straw color. Super sweet initial: the caramel is intense but also controlled / medium-strength fruitiness. Medium heavy body. Great stuff. Has one of the most complex, gentle aromas -- I spent about 15 minutes just savoring the nose before tasting it. Amazingly good.
