badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 30, 2009 this is a distint rating taken during michigan winter beer festival, 2009...unfortunately, notes were not taken on most of these beers, but numbers are accurate. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 16, 2008 Draft. Pours a ruby brune body with a thin white lacing. Big fruity flavor of raspberries, medicinal cherry and loads of alcohol, maybe vodka-esk. Light oak but just very strong. Tmoney99 (4646), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 8, 2008 MBG Winter Fest 2008, sample from oak barrel. Poured hazy reddish brown with an average fizzy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Heavy raspberry, tart fruity and wood aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium sweet & sour fruity balanced flavor and a medium sweet woody finish of moderate duration. Good young that should be better with some age. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 3, 2008 (Barrel) Pours a cloudy purplish-brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma of raspberries, overly ripen apples lying in an apple orchard, red grapes, light floral, and earthiness. Flavor of sweet, semi-tart raspberry, apple, grapes, and caramel with a dry oak finish. Excellent! pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 27, 2008 cask sample at MBGWF....poured a nice amber reddish burnt brown with a thin soapy off-white head....nose was really woody and vinous with a big raspberry component.... flavors of red fruit, wood, and earth. masonjer (555), Holt, Michigan, USA Feb 25, 2008 Served out of a cask at the MBG winter fest. This one was a surprise so I was excited to try it. Nice woody raspberry on the nose. I think somebody described this before as actually eating the raspberrys vine and all. I thought the same thing. Nice lucsious raspberry with a strong wood character. Very nice overall. BBB63 (4179), La Porte, Indiana, USA Feb 24, 2008 2008 MBG Winter Fest, served from a oak cask: Brown with lots of ruby highlights, minimal head nor lace. The aroma is indeed raspberry along with clean oak, grassy, and just a beginning hint of Brettanomyces. The taste is acidic sourness and fruit with just a dash of pale and caramel malting. The finish is a touch woody and alcoholic. The mouth feel is sprite and a bit dry, warming. A good beer that should only get better once the funk takes hold. lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA Feb 24, 2008 Last drops from the barrel at Michigan Winter Beer Fest 2008. Sorry everyone. Glad i got a chance to have this. Nice raspberry and oak scent and flavor. I didn’t find as much alcohol in it as other people were saying. Hidden under all the fruit.
