4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 badnewsbeers (2297) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 30, 2009
this is a distint rating taken during michigan winter beer festival, 2009...unfortunately, notes were not taken on most of these beers, but numbers are accurate.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 fredandboboflo (1570) - East Setauket, New York, USA - FEB 18, 2008
EBF V NOTB. Looked like raspberry-tinged mud, in a good way. Aroma really nice with tart and sour raspberry, a complex, perfumy aspect, and wood. I felt the taste was too heavily dominated by the wood and didn’t allow all the other flavors exhibited by the aroma to fully shine. Still very tasty.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 golubj (1376) - San Mateo, California, USA - FEB 18, 2008
EBF NOTB. Deep red color. The aroma is of delicious raspberries and wood. The flavor was nice, I think the wood aging went better with this fruit beer than it did with many other beers from the evening. I think I got a piece of raspberry in my mouth while drinking.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 20/20 ajm (1057) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 20, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2008 Cask pour at EBF 2008 - Night of the Barrels. This is the one example of barrel-aging that I think its truly profound and genius for its functionality. The American Oak gave me the illusion that I was eating a raspberry branch whole because the wood was so beautifully realized in the brew. All the sweet and none of the green. Just dynamite: I cannot stop thinking about this brew.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 punkrkr27 (903) - Berkley, Michigan, USA - JUN 9, 2007
Bottle thanks to Eric and Brett Kuhnhenn. Bottle was a bit of a gusher. Reddish copper pour with a huge white head. Very strong raspberry note with a hint of alcohol. Reminds me of raspberry sherbet.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 masonjer (605) - Holt, Michigan, USA - FEB 25, 2008
Served out of a cask at the MBG winter fest. This one was a surprise so I was excited to try it. Nice woody raspberry on the nose. I think somebody described this before as actually eating the raspberrys vine and all. I thought the same thing. Nice lucsious raspberry with a strong wood character. Very nice overall.

Last drops from the barrel at Michigan Winter Beer Fest 2008. Sorry everyone. Glad i got a chance to have this. Nice raspberry and oak scent and flavor. I didn’t find as much alcohol in it as other people were saying. Hidden under all the fruit.
