A Braggot is a mead (fermented honey) that has had beer added to it, in this delicious case orange blossom mead has had an bourbon barrel-aged Raspberry Imperial Stout added to it post-fermentation. The blend is 2/3 mead and 1/3 beer, it is extremely sweet, fruity, and rich on the nose. Black in color, and highly viscous, this mead is very sweet with savory rasp-berry notes. Malty tones and rich fruit end this flavor explosion.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours black with a bit of amber around the edges and a minimal off-white head. Spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma of raspberry, malt and vanilla. Rich body with a moderately tart raspberry character and notes of roasted malt, vanilla and oak. The finish coats the tongue and leaves a lingering berry aftertaste. Really good Braggot overall.
