3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A sweet aroma of cereal grains, caramel, bread yeast, and some toffee. Appears dark brown with a slight purplish hue, white foam, and nice lace. Taste is fruity up front, of mild strawberry followed by a mild roast malt with a touch of sweet and bitter charring on the end. Palate is fizzy and nice. Overall, a very good beer when desiring a mild dark ale with minimal hopping.

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate and caramel. Flavor is the same. The flavors are very rich and provide a nice sweetness. One of my favorites so far from Kuhnhenn.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2013 Tap: deep, deep mahogany, nearly black with a big, foamy khaki head that settles slowly & leaves nice lacing behind. Aroma is sharp roster malt, some mild dark fruit sweetness, & somewhat phenolic & white pepper-like spice. Taste is mild with some light chocolate up front. Faint, dusty hops, a bit black licorice & plum, more roast, & a hint of alcohol hear. Aftertaste has mild phenolic, peppery spice... Almost like a Belgian yeast (though it’s not).

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is crystal clear in the glass, deep dark brown with a red hue and it has a big beige top that quickly falls together. Light sweet traces of ham on the nose, also traces of sweet plums and thin faint sweet licorice. It has a thin oily mouthfeel and a below average carbonation level. Nice flavors. Not the biggest fan of this genre, but this one works. It has a note of sweet milk chocolate next to all the dark dunkel-malts and that really works. Not hard to like this one. 03.05.2013

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a tight, tan cream head. Dry and toasty malts in the snout, some dried dark fruits. Light dry bready malt flavor, some more dry and leathery fruits. Medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Still more dry bread in the finish, and still more dry malts. Nice, if a bit one-dimensional.
