This medium-bodied springtime lager is a jewel-like deep golden color. With its strong malty aroma, creamy head and rich flavor, this beer is truly May in a glass!

Draught. Copper body with a white soapy head. Aroma of spice, rye bread, and fruit. Sweet caramel and cookie flavour in a soft and smooth body. Flavourful. Sampled at the brewpub on July 21, 2006.

Draught at Kuhnhenn. Pours a clear golden-orange with a small diminishing white head. Nice mild aroma of caramel malt, fruit and hops. Flavour is predominently caramel malt followed by some fruit, hops and alcohol. Alcohol’s pretty well hidden. Nice medium to full body. A really good version of the style in my opinion.

Draught at the brewery, Michigan Trip ’06. Light amber pour, small white head. Aroma featured mild alcohol and sweetness. Taste was rather boozy and felt almost oily slick. There was something that just didn’t come together for me on this one. Average at best.

Draught sampler at the brewpub. Nice orange-amber colour. Aroma of roast malt and mild caramel. Medium body. Flavour is sweet & malty to start, with some nice herbal notes developing in the finish.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2006 Draught. At the brewpub with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev. Poured clear gold, white-ish head. Light herbal, slightly sour/funky hop aroma, some toasty mild, a bit of alcohol burn. Taste follows on, quite herbal-bitter, finishes quick - decent body, a little astringent - pleasing, bock? well, I’m no expert, maybe not on-style, but I liked it.

Very clear orange body with a small white head and decent lace (3+). Wine like aroma, muted alcohol. Caramel, alcohol is mild considering the abv but oddly prominent. Average to thin palate. Did not do much for me.

Malty sour and sweet. A nice long bitterness.Caramel malted. Apple and a tad harsh. Lots of lace.. Perhaps a week or so beyond when it would be best freshly served. Suitably carbonated, at the brewpub

Tap; dark copper/amber color with decent white head. Nice caramel malt and toffee/molasses?, with lots of apple and peach. Has the belgian yeasty peach character to it. Initial flavor is all sweet caramel malt with the fruits coming through towards the finish. Usually not a fan of this style, but this is very well done.

Sampled on draught @ Kuhnhenn Brewing Company in Warren, Michigan. Deep copper color. Beautiful malt aroma bursting with caramel and toffee, cinnamon apples and light fruit. Texture is creamy and extremely smooth, perfect for a Maibock. Flavor is heavenly, well extracted and loaded with luscious caramel, apple and toffee malt flavors. This was a very good, serious rendition.

On tap: Cloudy orange, looks like its got some nice carbonation, poured a small diminishing head. Aromas are sweet and malty, apples, dates, oranges, and lots of bananas. Flavor is sweet but not syrupy, bananas galore, the slightest of hops, bubblegum and some alcohol as i warms. Light and slightly lively mouthfeel, but in no way watery or thin.
