500mL bottle from trade. Thanks, Jason! Pours deep mahogany. Completely still. Aroma is cherry, mbourbon, vanilla and earthy wet moss. Thick and sweet, with tart cherry, vanilla, caramel, oak and a bourbon kick.

Sample @ RBWG, Asheville. Thanks to JohnnieNepal for hooking me up! Deep blood red pour with a tiny head. Rich mashed cherries. Hot boubon and vanilla. Musty tree bark. Really hot but vibrant on the palate. This has legs. Big meaty cherry and brown sugar. Orange peel and a bit of cinnamon. Outsized stuff. Full and rich, smooth despite the heat. Wonderful.

Poured a deep red color with aromas of booze, cherries, light oak and a touch of sweetness. Flavors are the same cherries, booze and some light alcohol in the aftertaste. Another solid mead from these guys.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jason. Muddled, rusty ruby body with some orange; completely still, no head forms at all on the pour. Nose consists of lots of honey, lots of bourbon, & a surprisingly small amount of cherries buried underneath... Mostly sweet, not really tart. Alcohol stings the nostrils. Taste is similar, with a heavy hand on bourbon, honey, & wood, with the cherries taking a backseat. Lightly sweet, a touch medicinal in the finish with a lingering mixture of honey & boozy bourbon. Expected for being 17% ABV, I guess, but I still wish the fruit character was more relevant. Much better meads available for the price.

Bottle thanks to Tammy for sharing. Pours a murky red grapefruit color, no carb. Nice aroma of cherries, sweet honey, vanilla, and a hint of alcohol. Taste starts with rich honey and cherries then gets quickly overpowered by bourbon booziness. A bit harsh to drink at times but not surprising since it’s a 17% BB mead. What is surprising is how thin it is. Makes it seems watery in the mouthfeel. Pretty good but after drinking Black Agnes and Miel de Garde #1 in the same night, it’s a minor letdown.

Tasted from bottle at the Friday night tasting at RBWG Asheville, thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Pours clear rosé with no head. The nose is legitimate cherry-forward Manhattan with plenty of bourbon aroma. The flavor is the same, it is super impressive how much like a Manhattan, with some added cherry, this tastes. The body is full and viscous with no carbonation and a long cherry Manhattan and bourbon finish.

375 ml bottle shared with the group (also a small taste at RBWG). Pours a reddish amber color with no head at all. The aroma and flavor had sweet honey, black cherry, mild bourbon, vanilla and booze. I like this, but only in moderation.

>> Clear rose pour, low foam, excellent legs. Nose is lovely cinnamon, spiced cherry, clafoutis. Taste is super rich red cherry, cherry cordial, pithy, cherry pie. Rich and juicy palate with soft alcohol warming. Really good.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear reddish golden color with good legs. Heavy citrus honey, tart fruit and woody alcohol aroma. Medium to abundant body with a thick smooth texture and good legs. Medium to heavy tart fruit, honey flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Pleasing smooth alcohol burn. Standout mead.

Bottle at RBWG, thanks! Pours a clear rose with no head whatsoever. Aroma has a bit of musty honey that is backed by a manhattan note. Flavor has more earthy honey with a bit of light fruit and barrel.
