Bottle says 2008, but I think was released in 2010 after two years in oak. A - Transparent amber-red body. Very attractive color - some nice legs. S - Quite sweet - I see why Andrew says Kool-Aid, even if that’s not the first thing that would have came to mind for me. There’s some fruity red wine mingling with the more conventional sweet honey flavors. As it warms there’s a hint of oak and alcohol. T - Taste is a little more vinous, oaky, and tannic, with less overt sweet mead flavors and more of the Meritage elements shining through. Alcohol is better hidden here. M - Tannic, oaky, and dry. Medium body, with a viscous and chewy texture. Light alcohol warming, but nothing untoward. D - I liked this a lot - it’s a nice red wine oriented mead that’s pretty easy to drink and never grows fatiguing like some of Kuhnhenn’s other offerings. I’m glad I have another bottle of this one, as it should pair nicely with a future meal.

Bottle from the 2009 winter solstice release from notes. Pours a reddish copper color with no head. The aroma and flavor have red wine, honey, caramel, wood, interesting combination and worth trying if you get the chance.

Rated on 7-27-2013. This bottled Mead pours a small head, has a transparent body and a reddish hue. The Aromas are sweet, honey, berries, and alcohol. This Mead’s taste is sweet, honey up front, dry, cherries, and the ABV comes through as well. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied Mead. Overall, this Mead is very quaffable, definitely worthy of a try and I not only would partake in another glass of this Mead, but highly recommend it if one likes Meads. Nice Mead, Kuhnhenn!!

This pours a violet hued maroon mead and is still. Very nice sweet berry nose. This is a nice dry mead with lots of berry flavors over a honey sweetness and some oak and chalk. Great berry mead.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a head of no head bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a uncarbonated transparent brown colored body and a oily lacing. The nice aroma was malty and sweet. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a burning sweet aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of sweet and honey. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

Red pour, no head. Flavors of red wine, grapes and honey. A real treat that I enjoyed more than some of the other Kuhn meads I have tried. I like the use of the wine.

Pour from a tiny bottle that kind of makes me feel like a giant. Ruby port red in color. Nose is mostly wine, red grapes with a hint of honey. Beautiful balance of red wine and honey sweetness. Would like to have this with some nice cheese and would like to have this in a 750 ml bomber!

Bottle shared at Exira Beer Summit 2012. Thanks to adnielsen for sharing. Pours a dark red color with minimal head. Dark cherry, juice, sweet aromas. Dark grape, sugar, cherry flavors. Very fun to try.

Bottle… Pours clear and burnt orange with several, long, meaty, Monica Brant-like legs. The aromatic highlights are honey and Cabernet grapes and skins. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and zero carbonation. The flavor provides honey up front, then drying, warm methanol. Suggestions of cherry and blackberry fruitiness are noted as well. Sweet, vanilla, lightly acidic, and then dry finish. Bottle courtesy of KickInChalice!

Bottle thanks to FlandersNed. Pours dark ruby red. Nose of honey, oak, vanilla and red fruits. Taste of same but finish is dry cheap red wine. Medium body.

Bottle big thanks to Matt for the bottle! Pour is dark red, aroma brings notes of grape, sweet floral honey, some booze and vanilla, touch of sourness from the grapes. Taste is red grapes, hints of oak, nice sweet honey with some vanilla notes, goes into a dry slightly sweet finish.
