Bottle says 2008, but I think was released in 2010 after two years in oak. A - Transparent amber-red body. Very attractive color - some nice legs. S - Quite sweet - I see why Andrew says Kool-Aid, even if thatís not the first thing that would have came to mind for me. Thereís some fruity red wine mingling with the more conventional sweet honey flavors. As it warms thereís a hint of oak and alcohol. T - Taste is a little more vinous, oaky, and tannic, with less overt sweet mead flavors and more of the Meritage elements shining through. Alcohol is better hidden here. M - Tannic, oaky, and dry. Medium body, with a viscous and chewy texture. Light alcohol warming, but nothing untoward. D - I liked this a lot - itís a nice red wine oriented mead thatís pretty easy to drink and never grows fatiguing like some of Kuhnhennís other offerings. Iím glad I have another bottle of this one, as it should pair nicely with a future meal.

6 oz. bottle thanks to Willrunforbeer, thanks for this share! Light brown color. Aroma is just a very light trace of grape with ample honey.

The flavor has just the slightest hint of red grapes. Very slight earthquake wood hint. But it doesnít scream oak. Really borderline cloying sweet.

6oz bottle for $12.99 from umich03jm. Thanks, Jason! Pours amber, no head, leaves legs. Aroma is brown sugar, honey. Canít really smell the grape. Flavor is sweet honey, grape, oak. The grape is a bit thin, was hoping this would be dryer and more grape forward.

Thanks Brian for sharing this one. This bottle needs like some sort of nipple apparatus. itís teeny tiny like a pacifier. Drink your medicine.

A - Reddish brown and completely still (duh).

S - Smells insanely good. a lot of wine tannins, oak, raspberries, cherry, clove.

T - Sweet, juicy, tastes really old like a decade. faded fruits, musty mold, oak barrel and liqueur .

M - Very thin mouthfeel, cloyingly sweet. lingering tobacco finish

O - Interesting but there are other meads Iíd rank much higher. Sorry guys.

Live from NH! Bottle (250 ml). Shared by Chris, thanks! Split 3-ways with Chris and Julien.

Appearance: Almost clear reddish ruby with little legs.

Aroma: Lots of raisins, red wine, honey, oak and berries.

Taste: Medium sweetness. A bit boozy. Tons of raisins, honey and berries.

Palate: Medium body. Quite winey mouthfeel. Raisins finish with a nice alcohol warmth.

Overall: A nice experimental mix between mead and red wine. Tasty, not super cohesive, but really interesting.

Bottle from the 2009 winter solstice release from notes. Pours a reddish copper color with no head. The aroma and flavor have red wine, honey, caramel, wood, interesting combination and worth trying if you get the chance.

Rated on 7-27-2013. This bottled Mead pours a small head, has a transparent body and a reddish hue. The Aromas are sweet, honey, berries, and alcohol. This Meadís taste is sweet, honey up front, dry, cherries, and the ABV comes through as well. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied Mead. Overall, this Mead is very quaffable, definitely worthy of a try and I not only would partake in another glass of this Mead, but highly recommend it if one likes Meads. Nice Mead, Kuhnhenn!!

This pours a violet hued maroon mead and is still. Very nice sweet berry nose. This is a nice dry mead with lots of berry flavors over a honey sweetness and some oak and chalk. Great berry mead.
