2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Tap at The Ginger Man in NYC. Pours a clear old with sticky white lacing. Nose is fairly big margarine/diacetyl. Taste is a bit metallic and trashy up front with malt liquor sweetness and macro graininess finishing papery and corn syrup cloying. Hints of fruitiness at the front morphs to wild paper and dry stale cracker.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a slightly hazed golden color with a medium ivory white head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of fruit, hops and bready malt. The finish is mildly hoppy with some malt in the background. Pretty average overall.

Draught from btiger. Poured a slightly cloudy gold. Fairly herbal aroma and taste. Ok but not spectacular.

3.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours bright and clear, hiding its true nature. Flavor is sweet, with vanilla tones and a bit of alcohol burn and fruit. One of the most flavorful and well balanced lagers around.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft. Pours golden amber with a thin head. Malty and grainy aroma with a strange sweetness. The flavor has sweet malts and grainy, and something alse that I didn’t really like but couldn’t put my finger on. Really not that bad, but nowhere close to as good as other Kuhnhenn offerings.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Rattle for the Kuhnhenn takeover. Hazy brown. Mild aroma with caramel, malt. Taste is strong with a bit of alcohol, more caramel, sweet. Harsh and unbalanced, couldn’t really have more than a sip or two of this.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Thanks to my mom for picking up the 2009 edition at the 2010 Winter Solstice party for me. Served in a snifter. Closing out the eisbock list with this beer.
Pours a moderate brown color with some amber coloring in there as well. Very thin off-white head and a few legs down the side of the glass. Slight collar. Nose is loaded with dark fruits and some alcohol. Slightly spicy as well. Taste is a bit oxidized and really quite warm. Warm as in lots of booze, even for an eisbock. Low carbonation. Decent but probably way too young. Normally Kuhnhenn hides alcohol better than this.

On-tap at the pub, poured into a 6oz tasting glass...A dark but clear gold, good coloring. The head is bright white and keeps about a half finger cap for several minutes. At first the lacing is very full, but falls too quickly. Good start...The aroma is totally dead, very disappointing, only a slight hint of hops...The taste is exceedingly sweet, corn, floral bitter hops help to break the sweetness. Reminds me more of a pilsner with a little black pepper finish. A touch to sweet but this makes this totally crushable at a shocking 7%.
If I had to drink a lager I’d probably go for this, but at Kuhnhenn tough to keep going back to this with so many other options.
