On cask. Black with minimal head. Strong chocolate malt. Complex flavor profile. Would be better with some more carbonation, but pretty awesome as is

Tap: Dark, black, allowing no light to pass, even at the edges. Small, semi-bubbly tan head builds up to a few millimeters, then settles as a thin film & collar after a few moments. Aroma loaded with deep cocoa & rich espresso. Not overly sweet or cloying, yet not too dark or insanely bitter, either. Perfectly "bittersweet". Roasted malts, hints of milky cream, & perhaps a touch of anise in the back-end. The sweetness of the cocoa & lactose hit the palate first, delicate & soft, then it slowly cascades into a more roasted profile; charred malt, roasted coffee beans, harsh licorice flavors, & a touch of earthiness. Medium bodied; have had this on cask a few times & it certainly amplifies the experience. Midnight, 86% cacao finish with a hint of milk, coffee, & roast left in its wake. Delicious stuff. Glad to see that Kuhnhenn seems to be producing this more often.

On tap at the brewpub...fantastic drink of liquid chocolaty earth with some delicious alcohol for good measure. As good as mud gets in Michigan!

Tap at Detroit Fall Beer Fest. Dark brown/black. Some nice brown head on pour. Rich creamy body tastes like melted M & Ms. Deliciously chocolatey.

On tap at Kuhnhenn. Pour is deep black with a medium tan head. Aroma and flavor of milk chocolate, vanilla beans, dairy creamer, cocoa powder, and earth. Finish has more lactose and vanilla than the body.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a dark brown with small head. The aroma is strong lactose and sugar malt. Thin mouthfeel with nice lactose, rich chocolate, sweet finish, hides alcohol well, very good.

Poured a dark black color from the bottle with aromas of chocolate, lactose, light nuts, some vanilla, and a touch of sweetness. Flavors are chocolate, vanilla, lactose, and a hint of nuts. Really nice stout overall, nice mouth feel, thick and creamy.

Bottle. Dark black color. The aroma is down right awesome!! Vanilla bean chocolate, coffee with creamy lactose sugar.

Deep layers of sweet goodness! Lighter body but not light in flavor. Lots of chocolate, coffee and cream and a nice amount of vanilla bean. Some mild bitterness that helps cut the sweet lactose sugars. Not overly sweet. Another fine job.

Thanks to whoever for sending this to me. Enjoyed slightly cold and allowed to warm up. Split 3 ways.

A - Looks like chocolate peanut butter sweet milky heaven.

S - Nose is quite nice. Lots of chocolate candies, sweet vanilla and a huge chocolate with some sort of hazelnut french vanilla liquor.

T - The lactose makes this beer awesome. Chocolate roasted vanilla. Just loads of awesome-ness. The sweet creamy notes accentuate the vanilla perfectly. Excellent finish.

M - Oily, sweet and very thick.

O - This is a fantastic beer!
