3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Kuhnhenn: January 2015 release, listed 12% ABV. Murky copper & red tinted, a few small bubbles outlining the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet honey balanced with tart cherries, light lemon, & a touch of florals. Flavor had a nice, smooth honey backbone with a lovely tart cherry flavor over top. Pomegranate, lemon, & cherry juice longer towards the finish. No heat at all, alcohol is hidden wonderfully. Nice stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nip sized bottle. Slightly reddish tinged with no head. Tart cherries and fruity. I liked the cherries. This was a few years old and the cherries held up nicely.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
6 oz nipper courtesy of Flandersned. Pours a hazy candy apple red with no head or lacing. Aromas of black cherry, blossom honey, oak, dimetapp wild cherry and light wax. Taste is sour and sweet candy apple, vanilla, earthy honey, wood, cherry cough syrup and tons of honeycomb wax. Lots of cherries in this one, and also very smooth and oily considering the 16%. No heat present besides the warming effect in the body. Another beautiful mead from Kuhnhenn.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
6 ounce nip bottle pours a nice looking red color, aromas of tart cherries, and some honey. Cherry aroma is not overpowering, flavors are tart cherries and honey, light on the palate, cherries blended nicely with the honey, another great mead from Kuhnhenn.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks for the bottle, Steve. Pours a clear pinkish color. Great fruit aroma to this. Smells like a really great cherry pie. A little bit of fruit punch character to it, too. The flavor is quite sweet, but very drinkable. Plenty of cherry pie, a light tartness, and some fruit punch. Very much enjoyed this one.

Nip bottle thanks to womencantsail. Clear rose pour. Nice legs. Nose is similar to the cherry pomegranate. Lots of kool aid burst. Small vanilla. Taste is sweet, pithy, tangy. Nice but almost identical to the cherry pomegranate mead.

Bottle to snifter (2012 vintage, shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; like a still cherry mead should, but not overly red. Smells sweet and cherry with a little cinnamon too. Tastes like it smells with a tart finish that’s pleasant on the palate and hides the abv well. Good!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark red, some lacing on the glass. Aroma of honey and cherries. Taste is really sweet cherries at first but then tartness takes over. Really good mead. The sweet and tart balance nicely and the 16% abv is well hidden. Finish is warming. Highly recommend.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle… Clear, brilliant, burnt-orange mead with very nice, Monica Brant-like legs. The aroma offers methanol, wildflower honey and a mild whiff of cherry. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel. The alcohol doesn’t show much in the flavor and the cherries make a big-time appearance here, but a misplaced, moderate amount of bitterness sort of spoils the soup for me. Finishes bittersweet with a nice, tart kick. Nice offering, but I’ve had much better from Kuhnhenn. Bottle courtesy of KickInChalice!
