Poured a cloudy deep mahogany with a small light-tan head which dissipated completely. Aroma is predominanty bubble gum... very sweet, almost cloyingly so. Taste follows from the aroma... bubble gum, a touch of fruit, with a dry finish. Funny.. although there doesn’t seem to be anything overwhelmingly wrong with this, it’s one-dimensional sweetness is starting to churn my stomach. It’s just not sitting well with me. Oh well... a decent attempt, at least. TheBeerGod (3177), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 25, 2005 Bottle - thanks to Pailhead. Brewed on 04-18-05. Muddled brown body with a small tan head. Nose is fruity and sweet with light caramel and alcohol. Taste brings out some cherry, spice, rum soaked fruits, cocoa, light caramel, raspberry, and sweet malts. Some light tartness in this which seems out of place. Lots of Belgian yeast throughout this. The body seems too light but has a slickness about it. Mild carbonation and some alcohol warmth in this as well. Finishes with more fruitiness, alcohol notes, spice, Belgian yeast, cocoa, caramel, and sweet malts. Again a splash of tartness starting to develop. Nice beer, but like TAR, I can’t see this making it to one year. MullMan (1088), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

Aroma similar to brown bread & caramel. Flavor is sweet, caramelly, with slight roast qualities, and Belgium yeast. Carbonation was a little to low I thought. Finish was sweet like brown sugar. The sourness that I taste along with this brew, probably means that this rascal is heading south! Silphium (2160), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 19, 2005 Sampled at the Ohio Labor Day tasting, provided by Styles and pailhead. Hazy red body, thin/non-existant off-white head in an Orval glass. Butterscotch, plum, and caramel aroma. Flavor of sharp candies (butterscotch), cherries, prune, caramel, and Halloween candy corn. Decent complexity. TAR (2097), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2005 Plum in color. Crackly ivory foam settles to a thin collar. Yogurt covered dates, burnt rubber, and meaty alcohol comprise the aroma. Softly carbonated. Slippery, wet, and weighty. Tangy lactose immediately tingles the cheeks before subtle cakey malts lend a trace levels of sweetness. Pronounced husky (Munich?) malt presence. Muted clove teases the palate with a tight spiciness, but remains secondary to the acidity. Substantial throat warmth from the alcohol. Delectable banana-like softness offers a moment of brightness to the wet body and overripe plum character. Bandage phenolics only compound the blandness, as the center possesses very little flavor. Finishes wet and slightly vinous with meaty alcohol as notes of raisins and fruity malts linger. I’m guessing this isn’t even 3 months old, and it’s already showing signs of infection. That’s too bad. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2005 Tasted at the labor day event. Wonderful dark fruit and spicy alcoholic aroma. Brown orange color. Flavor is very earthy and some ending fruity flavor. Alcohol presence comes off only in the last feel, making me want another sip of this tastey drink. Maybe it was just this bottle was flat by the time I got the ending sample, but this seemed to have little to no carbonation, which only made it all the more enjoyable. cb (809), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA
