12oz bottle acquired in trade with goldtwins (thanks!). Poured a deep and cloudy brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of plums, raisins, stronger yeast, and dark cherries. Tastes of stronger raisins, cherries, yeast and caramel. Starts of lightly sweet in ends in a lightly sour/tart cherry finish. Alcohol content well hidden.

Filmy light brown head covers an unfiltered maple syrup colored ale. Phenolic, heavily yeasty and hard-working yeast with strong esters. Plenty of banana puree, clove, sweet maple and berry, grape and fig nuances. A sweet and fruity dubbel that works quite well in its aromatic immensity. Quite complex in mouth, well rounded certainly the carbonation remaining at a pretty low level. Plenty of residual sugars left, mostly in the shape of pear drops. Hard water underneath offers mineral aspects and surprisingly authentic belgian metallic character. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub on 4/27/06: Pours a clear dark mahogany copper with a thin off-white head. Sweet bready caramel malty and slightly grapey candy circus peanuts character. Starts sweet and viscous with good dark caramel and fruity complexity. Has nicely-balanced and authentic Belgian yeasty character.

Bottle, with clarkVV and Sully. This worked really well for me. Hazy brown in colour. Some intense malt characters, fairly sweet, but balanced out by a almost vinous acidity/woody acidity. Dark fruit, berry fruits, caramel and some light banana. This was a very interesting brew, and one which i hope to come a cross again one of these days. Good stuff.

Amicable butterscotch laces the dates and figs...Fresh cereal and obvious alcohol recall a beer’s younger moments...Cherry and plantane esters ride the residual sugars to the dessert table...

Draft sampler at MBG Winterfest. Poured a dark amber color with a large frothy head that lasted. Heavy sweet banana aroma. Medioum body with a sticky texture. Good caramelized flavor with a long smooth finish. Interesting brew.
