On tap: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, roasted grain, black coffee, and a hint of cream. It’s a dark brown with hints of orange highlights. It has a small beige head that leaves behind to sporadic webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of dark chocolate with a hint of caramel. There is a touch of dark fruits in the middle. The finish has moderate roasted grains and lighter black coffee. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is light roast and some chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, roast, light bitterness with a little bit of sweetness. Not bad.

Draft at Kuhnhenn in late 2011 from notes. Pours dark brown in color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, mildly sweet oatmeal, hints of caramel and coffee, thin on the mouth feel, not my favorite from them.

4oz pour at Churchkey pours an opaque black with some cloudy, beige head. Nose is nice, nutty, bread crust, toast, rootbeer, caramel. Flavor is the same, standard but sweet, malty, nutty, bread, some cola. Clean finish.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2014 Tap: Swampy and completely opaque mahogany, not much of a head for the style, just a thin collar. Aroma is thick, dark cocoa, rich oats, a good amount of roasted malts, and maybe even some back end coffee. Taste is quite roasty; full of roasty malt, but with much sweetness, too. Milky and creamy sweetness, mild residual sugar, and even a bit of prune fruitiness. A grape flavor grows with time, too. Kind of like a dark, grape skin sharpness. Different... Decent, but not what I expected. Continues to get "fruitier" with time, seemingly more roasty, too.

Pint at Kuhnhenn on 3/30/13. Darkest brown pour with a huge tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and light chocolate. Malty and creamy flavor with some chocolate before a thin finish.
